Over the next few days, Lillian was horribly spoiled by her parents. She got breakfast in bed, five new dresses, three pairs of slippers, a pearl necklace, and even the promise of a new Arabian in the future. All Lillian had to do was promise she would think about marrying Ryan.
Meanwhile, Lillian and Ryan had been secretly meeting anywhere they could find some privacy. Now, wearing her new blue dress and matching slippers, Lillian walked toward the cherry tree orchard for another one of their secret meetings.

Ryan made his way towards the cherry tree orchard, fumbling with his jacket to make sure that everything was ready. He was going to propose and he wanted everything to be perfect. Hiding a bouquet of flowers behind his back, he grinned when he saw Lillian as he gave her a kiss on the cheek.
"And how is the most beautiful girl doing today?"

Ryan smiled, offering her the bouquet of flowers he was holding. He made sure to pick the biggest, most colorful and beautiful flowers he could find. He wasn't about to give her a tiny flower. This was important.

Ryan grinned, kissing her on the cheek before getting down on one knee. That what was he was supposed to do, right?
Taking the ring out of his pocket, he gulped before saying, "Will you marry me, Lillian Wellsley?"

If it was possible, her eyes went even wider. Like she hadn't been expecting it.
It took her a couple seconds to realize she was staring at the gorgeous ring presented to her.
"Yes, of course. Of course."

Ryan beamed, gently placing the ring on her finger as he stood up to pull her into a kiss.

Lillian nodded, burying her face in his neck.
She pulled back and smiled at him. "Let's take a walk. The orchard is absolutely beautiful this time of year."

Ryan nodded as he gently took her hand to kiss it before leading her throughout the orchard.
"Were you surprised?" he teased, smirking at her. He initially wanted to do something out of the ordinary but figured it'd be best to keep it simple with Lillian, especially with the situation they were in.
