Raven had been dumped in Brooklyn by Jack Kelly. That son of a bitch! He just fucking left her there. She felt like a used piece of meat, that's what she felt like. First Ginger dumping her on Jack and now Jack dumping her on Spot...maybe she should just disappear.
The kicker was, Spot didn't even want her at first. It seemed like her reputation preceded her. Then she pulled that stunt, diving into the water and she knew he'd keep her. Now...now it was quiet and it seemed like no one was around. Just her and the water and the Brooklyn sunset burning up the sky.
She watched the sun get swallowed by the water. Raven took a drag of her cigarette and blew the smoke out of the perfect O of her lips. Raven looked down at her arm where sometimes she thought it was still stinging...
"That's cause you don't listen," She heard her brother hissing in her ear.
She scratched at the flat wide scar and then flicked her cigarette into the water.

Spot's face was bruised. Badly this time, but the fight had been worth it. He was the goddamn leader of Brooklyn, and he demanded some goddamn respect. That was partially the reason he was the leader in the first place- his old man taught him from an early age how to ignore pain, he was glad his father was burning in hell- but at least Spot knew how to take a punch and could walk away from a fight without passing out.
"The Bronx girl is on the docks," Freddy came into the bathroom to tell Spot. "Alone. Want me to watch her?"
Spot considered it for a moment. He didn't want the girl in the first place, simply because he knew Hunter would come for her, and he wanted peace with all the boroughs. At least for now. But...the docks...Raven...
"Nah, I'll go to her." He held his hand out and Freddy gave him a pack of cigarettes. "If ya need me..."
"Yeah, yeah," Freddy answered, eating a turkey sandwich.
Spot held out his hand again. Freddy groaned and gave him half. Spot headed out to the docks, chomping on his half of the sandwich, wondering if the blurriness in his eye will go away.
"You shouldn't be out here alone. I thought I made that clear when I agreed to let you stay here."

"So? Cause you say so I have to obey? That's like being in prison," Raven snapped back, she didn't even turn to look at him. Just stared at the quickly retreating sun.
"I did go inside ya know? They all just stared at me, nobody said a fucking word, just stared." She finally turned her head to look up at him. It had reminded her of being in the Bronx. How when Hunter would let her out of the room they all just stared...they all stared and gaped at her and nobody said or did anything. They looked at her bruises, at her scars and nobody helped her.
"You should get some ice or something for that eye or you won't be able to open it for days," She commented, still looking up at him. "Cold water would work too."

"Yeah," He snapped. "I know." It was like on cue that a smaller newsie showed up with a bucket of ice for Spot. Spot ruffled his hair and gave him a few marbles.
Spot took a hanky and gathered some ice in it and brought it to his eye. "That's because you got kicked out of Manhattan. Jack loves everybody, people are wondering what the fuck you did. And...you play by my rules otherwise you can't stay here. Simple as that."

"I didn't do nothin," Raven hissed at him, turning around to face him. "Not one fucking thing!" She stood up and stormed right up to him, she poked her finger into his chest, her eyes blazing.
"He just didn't know what the hell to do with me that's all!" Raven took a deep breath and stared at him.
"I'm tired of rules and having to listen all the time, whatcha gonna do? Gimme a nice crack in the face?" She asked. She slowly reached up for the bag of ice by his eye, she adjusted it so the ice rested there properly.
"There..."

Spot had never felt so turned on and so annoyed at the same time.
"I'm no coward, I would never hit a woman," Spot told her, staring her right in the eyes. Or at least attempted to- his shiner was inconveniently in the way. "But you're one of my newsies now like the rest of 'em, and you gotta understand the way things work 'round here. Got it?"
He placed the ice down and lit a cigarette. "Until we know for sure that Bronx ain't comin for ya, stay close will you? I don't wanna drag my ass all the way there to get you if I don't have to."
((classic cocky, confident and paranoia-free Spot conlon! PRE SAMMY shitttttttt ))

"If he does come for me I would just let 'im take me. Be way more trouble to fight Hunter off." Raven crossed her arms and looked up at him.
"He'll come...when he realizes I'm really gone for good and ain't walking right back home to him."
((I LOVE IT They're so awesome right now))

"It ain't about that," Spot responded, blowing smoke in her direction. "it's about my reputation and Brooklyn's reputation, and nobody- and I mean NOBODY- can just come here and start trouble."
"If your brother shows up to take you, that's a personal insult to me and all of Brooklyn."

"Well it's good to know you see it that way and not that he's a completely sadistic asshole who has posession issues." Raven said with a nod. She patted Spot on the shoulder.
"I guess I'm gonna go and pretend that I like it here. I'll just sit inside and let everyone stare at me for awhile then go to bed...well pretend to go to bed, so just lay there for awhile."

"That's the spirit!" spot chirped, reaching for ice and putting it back on his eye. "and as long as you don't pull any more naked dives into the river, I'm sure the staring will die down," he offered.

Raven looked over her shoulder at him. "I wasn't entirely naked, I still had my underthings on." She remarked casually and then turned to face him.
"You really didn't seem to mind."

"Hey, no one said nothing about minding anything. I was just letting you know what the situation was. People talk around here, Brooklyn ain't no different than any other place," Spot said, not being able to fight a smirk in her direction.
"Just tryin' to help."

Raven raised a brow and looked him up and down. "Well since they're talking, what're they saying Spot Conlon?" She was curious, she wanted to know what had been circulating about her. From what she heard, Spot knew everything about everyone just in case he needed information on them. Well, she was putting him to the test.

"That Cowboy kicked ya outta Manhattan and that you swim naked," Spot joked, tossing the bud of his cigarette into the water.

She actually laughed, "Okay, you got me there." When Rae laughed she almost looked like a different person, lately she hadn't been able to find anything to laugh about.
"So uh...how'd you get the shiner?" She motioned toward it with her hand.
