Race immediately turned away from her. "I didn't hear that," he whispered dramatically. "I don't know nothing."
((YES. And then have Spot come in and catch her. ;D I can just see the last post in this thread: "A few months later, Race got kicked out of Brooklyn. It allegedly had nothing to do with this incident, but no one can be entirely sure..."))

Raven nodded, "come on...we can't be seen near the scene of the crime."
((Lol!))

He nodded and pulled her over to a table across the room, where a card game was afoot. Watching the (hopelessly amateur) players, Race caught one of them staring at Raven and stared right back at him, wide-eyed and gaping, the way he and Rae had practiced. The kid flushed and suddenly seemed very interested in his cards.

Raven buried her face in Race's shoulder trying so hard not to laugh. She looked up at him and saw the look on his face. "Go ahead, play. I'll hang out on the roof or something." She shrugged.

"You sure? There's always room for one more. I mean, you already won a bet against me today, maybe you can beat me at poker," he suggested innocently.

"You're gonna be horrified, I can tell already...but I don't know how to play." She said with a shrug.

Race was horrified. "All right, you gotta let me teach you. It's simple once you get the hang of it. And if you get really good, you can hustle almost anyone here, 'cause guys are dumb and don't expect girls to know nothing about cards."
((I'm tempted to just copy and paste his giant explanation from their hustling thread, haha.))

((HAHAH Seriously their friendship just keeps getting better and better, he made her a hustler, they stole spot's teddy bear, they get drink and eat spaghetti and cannoli's together. WHAT MORE CAN YOU ASK FOR?))
She laughed, "Alright, so teach away!"

So Race patiently explained all the hands to her, and the process of betting, calling, raising, and folding. "Next time, we'll get into calculating odds and reading tells in people's faces, but for now, we should prob'ly stick to the basics." He went up to the card table--provoking groans from the other players--and pulled out two chairs, giving her an encouraging look.

"Okay I guess I'm in," She sat down next to him and waved at the other Brooklyn boys around her."

The dealer (whose name was Fish because he liked to swim so much) perked up at the sight of a pretty face at the table. "Sure thing, gorgeous!" he said, dealing her into the game. Race smirked to himself for a moment, then his face went blank as he looked down at his cards. The betting began, and Race did his usual calculated raising and bluffing, while sending glances toward Rae to see how she was making out.

"I guess I'll raise," she shrugged innocently and tossed more money into the pot.
((You know she's totally gonna wipe them all out right? Lol))

Race could see through that innocence like it was glass. Either she'd known exactly what she was doing from the start and this was one big hustle, or she caught on really fast. Either way, his admiration for this girl was growing by the minute. He folded, but he was the only one who did.
((Totally. And Race will be like, "Okay, me and you have a bright future together."))

Raven shrugged as she tossed out a card and picked up another one. She licked her lips, remembering what Race had taught. She knew she needed to keep a straight face, but she was holding a royal flush. She had definitely won.
She tossed more money in the pot and glanced at Racetrack.

He raised an eyebrow at her. Since he'd bowed out of this hand, it was perfectly acceptable for him to look at her cards. He scooted closer to her and glanced at them, and it took all his years of training to keep him from yelping and falling off his chair. Instead, he looked up with a perfectly blank expression, waiting for the end of the round, because he couldn't wait to see it.
