Yawning, Risk rubbed his eyes as he made his way towards the Distribution Center. Maybe meeting up with the boys at Brooklyn to have a drink was a bad idea. The sun was too high and his head hurt like nothing else. He would've loved to sleep in but seeing as how he was hardly selling at all, he figured it'd be best to keep up the charade and sell today.
Pulling his cap further down his face to shield himself from the morning sunlight, he waited in line behind the other Manhattan newsies.

((Okay. Can't resist.))
Macbeth took her place in line. She was well accustomed to the early hours, so she wasn't scowling any more than usual. Which was, nonetheless, a very generous amount of scowl. Her eyes drifted over the newsies, wondering if any of her old friends or enemies still sold around here. They lingered for a moment on some kid with a cap over his face.
"You look familiar," she muttered, almost to herself.

((Hahah! <3))
Despite his slow reaction, Risk's hearing was still working perfectly well. Turning around, he looked at the girl behind him and pointed at himself.
"I look familiar?"

((^_^ She just feels like she knows him, from some other time and place...))
"Yeah. No!" she amended quickly, getting a good look at him and determining that they'd never met before. "I mean...never mind. Forget it," she snapped, crossing her arms and turning her gaze dismissively toward the line. So bloody slow.

((Hehe )) Risk's brows furrowed in confusion. A smiled played on his lips, however, when he realized he hadn't met her before. "That's fine. It's way too early, anyway. I'm Risk."

"Well, that's a fortuitous bloody name. Do you like to jump off cliffs or fight with Brooklyn guys or something?"

"Both," smirked Risk, amused at the girl's energy in the morning. "And what would yours be? I'd rather not guess 'cause I'm sure you'd slap me or somethin'."

"I never hit first," Beth informed him coolly. "And it's Lady Macbeth. You can skip the 'Lady' part."

"A girl with a brain, huh?" smirked Risk, reaching into his pocket to look for a smoke. "And what if I ran into you and called you Lady instead?"

"I'd call you a few things in return," Macbeth snapped. As her hoity-toity British relatives had so vividly learned, she was the farthest damn thing from a lady ever to wear skirts.

"I'll remember that, Macbeth," said Risk playfully, bowing just the slightest bit towards her as if he were talking to royalty. He would've wanted to ask more about her but he wanted to test the waters first... and make sure he his head wasn't going to get bit off.

She regarded him through narrow eyes, trying to decide if he was teasing or mocking. There was a difference, at least in her mind. She ignored him for a while, but the line wasn't moving, and she was bored. "So where'd you come from? You weren't selling 'round here a year ago, I'd remember."

"Just came from the Bronx," said Risk casually, shrugging. "I'm always movin'... wait, aren't you new? How would you know who's been here and who hasn't?"

"New?" Beth snorted. "Everyone keeps saying that. I'm old as grit. Fourteen years in Five Points, one right here on the Lower East Side, and one in London. Now I'm back. Been a rollicking bloody adventure so far."

"Geez, you've been everywhere," said Risk in surprise. "Why'd you wanna come back here, then?"
