((Well, she does hang out with them separately. lol))
Sapphy tilted her head to the side, looking over Macbeth for a moment. She slowly, slowly smiled.
"He was an ass to you, wasn't he?"

((True! A wise move on her part.))
Macbeth would've really loved to confirm that, but... "He didn't start it," she muttered. "I was an ass to him."

"But he walked right into it, didn't he?" Sapphy laughed.
((I'm crashing. Love ya, toots. <3))

"Like it was a brick wall," she agreed with a smirk.
((Love you tooo! It's been quite the RP day. ;D))

"Yep, you definitely tangled with my beloved brother," she laughed. "That sounds a lot like him."

"Siblings. They're a handful," Beth agreed, gazing into the fire again as if she could see her sister there. Hell, if she believed in a Christian afterlife, that was probably where she'd find her. "So how come you stood up for me, anyway? You don't even know me. And I can't figure out why the hell you still want to."

Sapphy shrugged.
"Like I told Raven -- I'm never one to sit by and watch something I don't agree with. Yeah, what you were saying was stupid, but she shouldn't have hit you. They were just words."

"That don't explain why you're sitting here talking books and brothers with me." Macbeth's respect for this girl was growing. She herself might be a miserable, foul-tempered little wretch, but she didn't sit around and watch injustice, either--even when interfering got her knocked around. Basically, Sapphy appealed to the closet idealist in her.
Plus, she liked to read.

"I have nothing against you," she shrugged, glancing down at her book to re-read a few familiar sentences. "I don't have anything against anyone, really."

She glanced up from her own book, because this concept was just that startling to her. "Really? That's...either really noble or...I dunno, really detached. I have something against everyone I meet before I even meet 'em. Not saying that's the way to go, either, but..." She shrugged. "My friend Ershey's kinda like you. Gives everyone a chance."

"It's an odd mix of nobility and detachment, depending on my mood that day," Sapphy admitted. "It's like there's two people inside of me at times."

"I'm right there with you," Macbeth confided. "Only sometimes it's more like five or six."

"Is it friendly inside of you, or are the six in all-out war?"

"Oh, always the war. Sometimes there are casualties. I think one or two of me might be gone for good." She was getting impressively open for a sober Macbeth talking with a near-stranger. Had to be the rainy night and the firelight. She picked up her book again. "We should sit here and read and not say a buncha personal things we'll regret in the morning."

"I'm an open book," Sapphy shrugged. Well, for the most part. "I typically don't say things I'd regret, but if that's what you want, I'll respect that."
