She set hers down for the moment and cocked her head at him. "Really? Seems like I'm one asking all the questions."

"I'm holding back," smirked Risk. "And I don't want you to cut my head off or somethin'."

She raised an eyebrow at him. "You think I'm such a violent person. I'm the size of a creampuff. And I think you're waiting for me to get drunk so you can get me to spill all my dark secrets."

"I'm waitin' for you to get drunk so you can loosen up and stop insultin' me when you can," said Risk, finishing off his drink and asking the bartender for another one. "Alright, you said I haven't asked you enough questions. Let's see... you said you came here for a friend -- who could that be?"

"I stopped a while back," Beth snapped, though she was about ready to start again. "And her name's Ershey. Dunno if you've met her." And, because she never thought straight when she was annoyed, she drained her drink.

"Nope, haven't met her," said Risk, shaking his head. "I might've seen her around though. Alright, alright, next question. Favorite pasttime?"

Decidedly buzzed now, goddamn it. She hid it as best she could. "Reading. Theater, when I can afford it." She eyed the current vaudeville singer scathingly. "Preferably classy theater. How 'bout yours?"

"Drinking," said Risk, holding up his drink."Gambling. Playing cards... maybe poker, blackjack, anythin' I can get my hands on. Let's see... worst habit?"

"Oh, you need to ask? I am my worst habit." She took the second drink that had somehow materialized and sipped at it, lightheaded but not gone yet. "You?"

"You? How's that?" he curiously asked.
Upon hearing her second comment, he couldn't help but smirk. "Drinkin'. I get out of hand sometimes... and things happen."

In response to his question, she looked incredulous. "What you've been saying to me all night. I bite people's heads off. I've got the nerves of an eighty-year-old lady when the neighbor's kids run all over her lawn. Everything annoys me, and I can't keep my mouth shut about it." The second glass was half-empty, and she had started babbling a little.
In response to his worst habit, she raised her eyebrows. "You're gonna have to elaborate on that," she said with a slight degree of apprehension. She'd gone through hell dealing with the worst drunk ever to set foot in Manhattan, and she was pretty damn well over it.

"Alright, calm down," chuckled Risk. "No need to elaborate if you don't want to. And as for the drinking... I just don't think things through. Or don't think about the consequences... Or I just don't think at all."

"Gimme an example," she suggested with a smirk. "I've got plenty." She pushed her glass away and rested her chin in one hand. There was a pleasantly soft, fuzzy cast to everything around her.

"A story for a story," said Risk, cocking his head at her.

"Fine. One time I snapped at a random guy in a restaurant, and he swallowed a bunch of pills. Right there in front of me." She rolled her eyes. "Prob'ly wasn't me that drove him to it, but I didn't know that at the time. And that was the beginning of a much...much...longer story. That you won't be getting. Your turn!"
