I'm Giving Up, So Just Catch Me (c)

[Tag Along]

"Just some tea, maybe? I'm awfully cold." She said, her voice barely above a whisper.

[Specs]

Specs nodded, rushing over to the kitchen to heat some water and get her tea ready. Once the water was hot enough, he poured it in the nearest mug he could find and made his way back to the infirmary.

"Tag?" he said, knocking on the door before going in.

Tag was sleeping again, though she had tried her hardest to stay awake.

[Specs]

Peeking his head in, Specs quietly stepped inside and set the tea down on the bedside table next to her cot. He sat on the edge of the bed, trying his best not to wake up Tag as he gently stroked her hair while she slept.

Tag slept restlessly through the rest of the day and the whole of the night. She woke up a few times but was too drowsy to know what was going on.

The next morning, she felt even worse. She hadn't thought that was possible.

[Specs]

Figuring that Tag needed her sleep, Specs went out to sell for the day, stopping by the house every so often. He disliked how Tag wasn't getting better; her fever was getting worse and her coughing was persistent. Running his fingers through his hair, he figured that it'd be best to get her to the hospital. Of course, they had no money, but she had to get better somehow...

[Kathryn]

Kathryn stalked into the Lodging House like she owned it.

"Excuse me?" She called out. "I need to find Lillian."

[Specs]

Specs was about to grab another blanket for Lillian when he heard someone by the door. Brows furrowed, he walked out to the hallway and towards the lobby to see who it was. His eyes widened, however, when he realized it was some hoity toity girl he'd never seen before.

"...Are you lost?" asked Specs, confused.

[Kathryn]

Kathryn shot him back a look of indignation.

"No, I'm not lost. I'm looking for my seamstress, Lillian. She hasn't been at work."

[Specs]

"Your seam --- oh! Lillian, right, got it," said Specs as he took his hat and ran his fingers through his hair, trying his best to look presentable. "She's sick. I don't think she'll be sewing anything for the next couple of days."

[Kathryn]

"What?" Kathryn replied, a look of concern immediately taking residence on her face. "Where is she? I need to see her."

[Specs]

Specs blinked. "Really?"

This girl cared for her? He didn't blame her though, Tag always knew how to befriend people, no matter who they were.

[Kathryn]

Kathryn rolled her eyes and nudged past him, going into the room he had just come out of. She saw Lillian sleeping and rushed over to the bed, sitting on the edge. She called her name softly, putting a gentle hand on her shoulder. She felt how hot her skin was and withdrew her hand immediately.

She stood up and walked back over to the boy. "She doesn't look well."

[Specs]

"She's getting worse," sighed Specs, leaning on the doorframe. "I've done everything, honestly... aspirin, tea, food, sleep... I don't know what to do anymore."

Specs looked at Kathryn helplessly before taking seat on the edge of Tag's cot.

[Kathryn]

"We need to take her to the hospital." She said quietly, her arms wrapped tightly around herself.
