Sapphy couldn't sleep -- her head was buzzing too much and it wouldn't let her be. She couldn't even hear her own thoughts, which was the annoying part. It was like meditating with your eyes wide open but she found no peace.
She climbed up to the roof, hoping to get some fresh air.

Jack was already up on the roof, smoking a cigarette. He leaned against the ledge and let out a large plump of smoke from his lips. He needed the quiet sometimes, it eased him down, calmed his nerves. That's why he craved the open space so much. He almost had enough saved up, he was almost there.

Sapphy allowed herself to make some noise when she saw Jack at the opposite side of the roof. She didn't want to sneak up on him.

Jack immediately turned to look at her and put a grin on his face. "Hey Sapphy," He said. "Gorgeous night huh? I love when fall rolls in, least the city don't smell like it got washed in garbage."

Sapphy snickered, covering her mouth with her hand as she tried to stifle it.

"Nobody, that's who." He smiled at her and then sat down on top of the ledge, letting his heels kick against the wall.
"So how are ya?"

"Restless but otherwise good," she said, sitting besides Jack except facing the other way with her feet flat on the rooftop.

"You're a Prince, Kelly," she grinned at him. "...Ya got a light, as well?" Sapphy didn't really smoke. She had nothing on her.

He laughed, "now you're pushing Saph," he joked and then lit a match off the brick wall. He held it up to her cigarette.

Sapphy leaned in to ignite the end of her cigarette. She pulled away with a smile.
"You've graduated from prince to king," she informed him, her voice dead-pan.
