((Hahaha, they so are))
"That's the spirit," he said, smiling at her. "Now, should I go home and let you rest, or are you gonna go crazy with loneliness and start cleaning the apartment again? 'Cause in that case, we're gonna sit here and play cards till Spot gets home."

"I'll get the cards!" She said cheerfully and waddled off into the bedroom to go find the cards.
((OH GOD I AM GETTING NEVADA IN ON THIS))

((Do it! Oh, and Waddling!Rae is never getting old.))
Race grinned and took another long, luxurious swallow of wine. It was a good thing that things hadn't gone differently with him and Rae, he thought, because if they were married, they'd be drunk all the time. Happy, yes, but constantly drunk and completely unproductive.

((Aww did Race have a crush on Rae once upon a time?))
Raven returned with a deck of cards, waddling her way back into the dining room.
"Okay. Now, no cheating. You can't cheat a pregnant lady, that's just bad morals." She was a smiling mess and so happy that Race was willing to just sit with her until Spot came home. She sat down on one of the dining room chairs carefully, she missed when she could just plop down without a care in the world.

((I wouldn't be surprised. Maybe right when they first met--and then when she got together with Spot, he was like, "Well, I'm turning THAT off now," and never looked back.))
"Rae! I only cheat in self-defense!" he said, widening his eyes in his wounded-puppy look. He smiled back quite innocently and picked up the cards, shuffling up and down and left and right--all the fancy tricks his old friend in the orphanage had taught him.

"Alright alright, stop showing off," She crossed her arms and rested them on her belly, narrowing her eyes at him.
"I'm gonna take you for everything you've got."
((oh man I can't wait for Spot to walk in on this, Race drunk off his ass and Rae beating him at poker. OMG this is the night before the cowmageddon dream!))

((Haha, YES! But he isn't drunk at all yet, he just had a glass of wine. ^_^))
"Oh, c'mon, Mia," Race teased. "You know you learned all your tricks from me." He dealt the cards at lightning speed, then slapped a penny into the middle of the table for the ante and gave her a mock-serious look. "Let's do this."

"Oh we are so doing it," Raven put on her game face and slapped down a penny as well. "Deal me in."

He handed over her cards and then examined his own with an utterly blank face. "Two bits," he announced dramatically, slapping a quarter onto the pile. He knew it drove people crazy, betting high in the first round--that was why he did it.

She rolled her eyes, "really? Really?" Raven slapped down her own two bits. She studied her hand thoughtfully and then tossed out two cards. She held out her hand for two new ones.

He handed over her cards, flashed an ace and exchanged one of his own, then opened the second round with a slightly saner bet of five cents.

"Now that's more like it," Rae said with an amused smirk. She matched his bet and studied her cards carefully.

"Not gonna raise?" he teased. He was infamous for obsessively raising the stakes. "Moment of truth?"

"Moment of truth," she repeated smirking at him. She set down her card, straight 6 7 8 9 10 all spades. She shrugged.

Race sighed and swept out his cards before him--another straight, in hearts, but it was lower. "Don't let the first round go to your head," he warned her.
