"I would hope not," Goblin said. "You should meet my sister." He looked at Script as he tried to imagine the meeting, and got a rather mischievous gleam in his eye. "Go easy on her if you do, though...she might just run away. If you can get her to stay in one place and quit stuttering, you'll know you've gotten through."

Script smiled at him. "Your sister sounds sweet, if a little skittish. I can see why you're so intent on looking out for her." She respected him for it. In the back of her mind, she was aware she'd just met him, but that tug of attraction just kept gtting stronger the longer she talked to him.

Luckily, the song just starting up was a fast one, Tara's favorite kind. She took Jack's hands and whirled them both around, laughing with delight. They never played stuff like this at society balls.

Jack laughed too, he hadn't danced to something like this in ages and it felt so good. He was having a great time.

My sister's killed three people, Goblin thought, almost laughing out loud. And yet, in his mind, she really was still the sweet little girl she used to be. Which was exactly the kind of fucked-up thing that kept him from getting close to normal people if he could help it.
"She can look out for herself, in her own way," he said out loud. "Sometimes I forget it, though." But as he turned his mind from his sister and his deep, dark past to the sweet autumn night and the beautiful girl he was with, the mischievous gleam in his eye started to spread to his smile. It had been a while since he'd schemed something just for the joy of scheming. "You know, as long as we're out here, we might as well do something fun."

Script, clueless to his thoughts, looked up at him, a grin spread across her face, the look in his eye intriguing her. "Something fun, huh? I think I like the sound of that." She moved to bump arms with him playfully. "What'd you have in mind?"

((Just realized I never responded for Moonshine, sorry!))
Moonshine grinned at the admittedly pretty girl in front of him. "Nah, I suppose I ain't. A man would be crazy not to want the likes a' you, Sugar."

Seeing Tara again had put him in mind of their old neighborhood. "If you're up for a bit of a walk," he said, "there's this boarding school on the Upper West Side that's supposed to be haunted. We could go check it out." That was by no means the full extent of his plan, but it was no fun if you revealed the whole thing at the beginning, now, was it?

"Ooo, haunted, huh?" She lowered her voice dramatically. "Sounds spooky." She laughed and took hold of his hand. "Lead the way!" She as excited by the anticipation of sneaking into a creepy building, and spending more alone time with him.

Thrilled to have a partner who could keep up with her and laugh while he did it, Tara danced through the song with him, then stopped to catch her breath. "That was wonderful! Don't you think?" She grinned. The next song started, a slow one, and Tara made a face. "Well, I suppose they feel the need to alternate."

He led the way, kind of dazed by the turn of events the night was taking. The fact that he was in a good mood, planning harmless mischief, and successfully holding someone's hand would have delighted Clara to no end. She'd spent the whole week trying to get him to talk.
"I know you haven't been in New York long," he told Script, "so just to warn you, everything's gonna get gradually swankier. We're actually headed for my old neighborhood." For Tara's school, in fact--maybe he'd tell her the story of this adventure later, if he decided they were speaking again.

"Swankier, huh?" As they walked, she looked around at the city. "You know, I've been here three months and I've still never taken the time to explore." She turned her head to smile up at him, taking the opportunity to interlink their fingers together. "Thanks for taking me out."

"I haven't really been out of the house for anything but selling in a while, so I should probably be thanking you." He smiled back and watched as apartment buildings gradually gave way to houses. He tensed a little, and had to remind himself that they would not be passing the Pearson house, and it wasn't like there was anyone there who wanted him back anyway.

She felt him tense as the neighborhood changed and she gave his hand a little squeeze, moving closer as they walked so their arms touched occasionally. "So tell me about this school. Why's it supposed to be haunted?"
