"I thought you two might get along?" he said innocently. "And I'm not really..." A good person? Emotionally stable? Able to interact with people in a normal fashion? "...a very good dancer," he finished. "But I can give it a try." And he rested his hands on her waist and smiled at her, because she was obviously not giving up, and anyway, it was only a dance.

Script let herself relax as they danced. "You're good enough for me." She might have been talking about more than just dancing. She looked up at him, licking her bottom lip a little as she studied him, fingers moving to play with the hair at the nape of his neck idly.

He chuckled, both amused and sympathetic. "Looks like ya need another beer." Pushes one his way. "I'm tellin' ya, Jack. A little bit a' crazy ain't always a bad thing. Now, too crazy, and ya got yerself a problem, but just a little bit's alright. Makes things excitin'."

Little jolts of panic ran along his nerves. He told them firmly to go away. Script was not a threat--she was a sweet, if rather pushy, girl who he was dancing with--and panic was a completely irrational reaction. Unfortunately, knowing that perfectly well didn't help. He went right on silently panicking. "Well, I'm glad to hear that," he said, twirling her around. "It's good to have a new friend." Script pursed her lips. "New friend. Of course." She loosened her hold on him, dropping her hands to the tops of his shoulders and away from his hair. "You don't have to keep appeasing me, Goblin. I get it. I'm persistent, but I'm not dumb."

Goblin sighed. "Look, it's not that you're not gorgeous, and sweet, and a great cook, and really nice to dance with. And definitely not dumb." Or else he couldn't have tolerated her for five minutes. "It's that I'm not really ready to...jump into anything. And I understand if you don't wanna hang out and talk and do the whole friend thing for a while, but that's...that's all I've got right now." It wasn't much of an explanation, but it was the best he could offer to a girl he'd known for less than a day.

Script sighed, understanding, even if she didn't like it. "I can do the friend thing. I'm ok with that." She looked up at him. "But don't think I'm gonna let you keep me there without a fight." She laughed then, smiling up at him. "And at least you think I'm gorgeous. That's something."
