"Not so bad," answered Ryan, parking the car. "I'm surprisingly good at math." He smirked at her before running out to open her car door. "Maybe I can tutor you on that!"

"Maybe," she replied, smiling as she stepped out of the car. Of course, she didn't need tutoring in anything. She was currently first in their class, and so close to snagging the spot of Valedictorian.

"I'm sure I will. I'm not a very picky eater," she assured him. Her heart stopped when she touched his hand, and she was surprised she could even stand on her jelly legs.

"Good," grinned Ryan, placing her hand on his arm as he closed the car door and led her inside. He was prepared enough to make a reservation ahead of time (since it was a Friday night and all), letting the waitress walk them to their table just seconds after he mentioned his name.

Lillian was so nervous and excited and anxious. Was this a date? He said he just wanted to thank her for helping him, so he was probably just being nice. But this place was quiet and cozy and required a reservation.
She sat down at the table and immediately started fiddling with her napkin, unable to say anything at the moment.

Noticing Lillian's behavior, Ryan became worried that he'd prepared too much. He wanted to show that he was grateful, of course, but he felt as if he might've jumped just a bit. "Er, uh... do you like it here? We can go somewhere else..."

"That doesn't mean anything," shrugged Ryan, his eyes focused on the menu. He never knew he'd ever be the popular kid. Thanks to his parents, he made the right friends from the minute he started kindergarten. He was part of the circle even before he knew it.
