"You want to... what?" muttered Ryan, looking at Jack with confusion as he closed his locker to face him. He'd known Jack for a long time and his attitude around girls was pretty much the same. But then, this was Lillian...

[Tag Along]

"I wanna ask Lillian to prom," he repeated, swishing his hair out of his eyes. "I wanted to get your permission, don't really know why, though... She'll say 'yes,' though, I'm sure. Just gotta book a nice room before it's too late."

[Specs]

"A room? Really, Jack?" said Ryan skeptically. "Have you even... y'know, talked to her at all?"

[Tag Along]

"Yeah!" he replied, sounding offended. "We talked at that party last week. But, still, I don't gotta talk to the girl to know I wanna hit it."

[Specs]

"Yeah, yeah, I know," muttered Ryan, hearing that line from Jack before. "I don't know. Convince me. Why should you take her to prom?"

[Tag Along]

Jack sniffed, shrugging lazily. "She's hot. I can show her a good time. During and after the dance. Don't worry, Ry, she'll be in good hands," he winked, trying not to laugh at his crude joke.

[Specs]

"I don't know..." said Ryan, refusing to laugh at Jack's joke. "I was actually going to ask her to prom, Jack."

[Tag Along]

"What, you like her? I thought you were just friends," Jack replied, lowering his eyebrows.

[Specs]

"Well..." started Ryan, not entirely too sure what to say. Yeah, they were good friends but he couldn't help but feel overprotective when he knew that Jack wanted to take her to prom. He couldn't think of anyone else he wanted to be his date. "I mean, I'm sure you can take another girl to prom, right?"

[Tag Along]

"Yeah, but... Lillian's new. All the other girls I could take, I've done 'em already. Old news. Come on, man, it's been a while since there was some fresh meat around here." Jack was starting to get annoyed now. Ryan could easily take any girl in school, yet he wanted to take the one girl Jack hadn't screwed yet. Well, the one girl left worth screwing.

[Specs]

Normally, he would've caved in. He'd been friends with Jack for years and he wasn't about to get in the way of his supposed conquests. But his attempt to get to Lillian made his blood boil.

"Sorry, Jack," said Ryan firmly, trying to scan the halls for Lillian.

[Tag Along]

Lillian walked out of the principal's office just then, biting back a smile. She saw Ryan just ahead and started making her way toward him.

Before she could say anything to him, Jack stepped in front of him, blocking her way. "Hey, Lillian, go to prom with me," he said, the statement more of a demand than a request.

"Oh... Hi, Jack," Lillian replied, eyeing him suspiciously. "Uhm, sorry, I'm already going with someone..."

Jack turned to look at Ryan, his expression clearly saying 'Well, guess neither of us gets her.' And, with that, he walked away.

[Specs]

"Wait, uh, who are you going with?" asked Ryan, immediately after Jack left.

Lillian shook her head quickly, looking annoyed. "No one, I just didn't wanna go with him. Guess what?!" Her eyes shone as she looked at him, and she was barely able to keep a huge smile off her face.

[Specs]

"Oh, that's gr -- what?" said Ryan, trying to hide how excited he was about Lillian's quick thinking.
