Goblin smirked. "That seems to be what she goes by these days." The cat jumped up on the bed, and Goblin started to approach. "Good book?"
((My friend's coming over, so I fear I'll be disappearing soon, but hopefully I'll be back to post later!))

Zippy grinned. "I wouldn't know, Tag has been too embarrassed to let me read it."

...Which made Tag even more embarrassed. "Oh my gosh, Zippy, shut up." She said quickly under her breath. She snatched the book away, closed it, and stuffed it under her pillow once more. There it would stay until later tonight. In fact, Tag was thinking about just taking it back to the library and getting a book out on the Civil War. That would be too boring for anyone to want to read. And not embarrassing at all.

He grinned. "Sounds terribly wicked." These girls seemed surprisingly naïve, which was quite a change from most of the girls he knew. "I'm Goblin Pearson, by the way. No sign of my sister, then?"

"I mean, she was around, but I have no idea where she went. Do you want help to look for her?" Zippy offered, standing up and brushing off her skirt.

Tag stood up, as well, combing her hair with her fingers to make sure it wasn't standing up every which way. Her mouth remained shut, and she stood a bit behind Zippy.

((Hope you guys don't mind if I jump in!))
With a disgruntled mutter, Tree banged open the door to the girls' bunkroom. Her shoes made a squish-slap noise with every step she took, and her clothes clung to her skin. Her dark hair was dripping into her eyes in the front and plastered uncomfortably to her neck in the back - she couldn't win either way. It was one of those days that actually made her wish she carried an umbrella, though with the torrential downpour outside, it probably wouldn't have helped.
"A perfectly good tree-sit ruined by thunder and lightening," she grumbled, heading towards her bunk and a dry set of clothes.

((Of course not!))
Tag sneakily glanced at her pillow, making sure none of the corners of her book were sticking out. If one more person she didn't know saw her reading that book, she would probably die.

((I took a bit of liberty and made us bunkmates, Taggy. I was thinking maybe Tag could be helping Tree learn to read.))
Tree stopped short when she saw several people - including a boy - standing near the bunk she shared with Tag.
"Am I interrupting something?" she asked, bending down to pop open the trunk that sat at the foot of the bed. Digging through it, she quickly pulled out a pair of pants and a shirt before straightening and eyeing the group curiously. Seeing Tag and Zippy together wasn't surprising, but she didn't know who the boy was - which was surprising. She made it a habit to know everyone in the lodging house, even if they didn't know her.

Having heard every word being said in the bunkroom, Wraith figured it was finally about time to give up her hiding spot. If they came looking for her, they'd find her quickly enough, and she'd be cornered in the washroom with no good explanation for her long absence. You can't always hide in a place like this, the way you can on the streets. Especially with Sebastian here.
She drew in a deep breath, steeled herself, and walked out. "My brother was just looking for me," she explained in a barely audible voice, eyes on the floor.

Goblin gave Wraith a long-suffering yet unsurprised look. "Seriously? The whole time?" He turned to Tree with a smile and offered his hand, since she looked kind of nonplussed. "Goblin Pearson. And my little sister, Clara."
"Wraith," Wraith corrected in a whisper, retreating to her bunk, where she curled up in a fetal position with her back to everyone.

Tree returned Goblin's handshake, her eyes drifting to the girl - Wraith - but saying nothing other than, "Tree Fletcher. You're new around here, I take it?"
She already knew the answer, but two years spent trying to understand how normal people functioned had taught her that such small talk was generally considered polite.

Goblin eyeballed her for a moment and smirked slightly. No real curiosity behind the question; she was just going through the motions. He could have looked closer, tried to figure out more about her, but long experience had taught him that it was better to exercise his wiles when people weren't watching. So he just said, "Yeah...but I think you knew that already."
Then he turned toward Zippy and Tag with a gleam in his eye. He was feeling kind of bored, and boredom, for Goblin, always led to mischief. "These two," he confided to Tree, "are hiding a dirty book under that pillow."

"Two? Psh, just her," Zippy added, gesturing towards Tag. Chuckling a little, she then nodded towards Tree. "How goes it, Tree?"
