He almost walked out of the room, but he honestly wanted to know. It was so unlikely that she had anything new, when he had kids from all over the city bringing him bits of information, but the slim possibility still existed--and, well, this was kind of an obsession for him. "You have anything in there about the Refuge?"

Sapphy raised her eyes back up at Goblin and considered him for a long moment. She stared him down silently, thinking.

He tried very hard to look casual. "I'll trade you cupcakes. Script only makes 'em on special occasions, and they go so fast it's hard to get anything but crumbs."

Goblin figured he and Wraith were responsible for practically all the deals and trades and shady promises made on Duane Street; he usually knew just what to offer, but Sapphy had him baffled. "Uh...do you want something else?"

The words were an eerie echo of Script on the roof. At least he hid his surprise better this time. "How do you even know there's something to get in on?" She had a box of files too, and she didn't seem to have any kind of master plan...though he wasn't about to swear to that.

He nodded warily. "That was the second time." And deliberate, but he hadn't even admitted that to his sister, though she obviously knew. "I was in for a year the first time...why would you want to help shut down the Refuge?"

Oh, it does a lot more than that, Goblin thought grimly, but he sat down on the bed across from her to think. A calico kitten stuck its head out from under the bed--Tag was home from the hospital, apparently. "Roosevelt tried to shut it down, you know. But the city impressed him with a bunch of fake 'reforms.' Because someone's paying off the city--the cops, the judges, probably the mayor..." Just talking about him made him exhausted.

"Because everything about this city's corrupt," he agreed. "Anyway, I have someone working on a new lead now..." He wasn't going to go blowing Risk's cover any more than Wraith already had. "...so I could let you know how that turns out, if you really want to help."

"Thanks." He knelt by the trunk and glanced at Sapphy before he started rummaging through it. He felt a lot less torn about letting her help out with this plan than letting Script help. Actually, he thought it would be best if he did find something for her to do, and soon--she seemed like she needed a project.
Before long, however, he was engrossed in the articles he'd found and completely oblivious to anything else.
