Tristan had Mikey on his hip as they walked to the park together. They were going to have some boy time and leave Nevada and Lucy at home together today.
Mikey was smiling, his head resting on his father's shoulder. Tristan looked down at him. "Excited?" He asked his one year old. Mikey nodded his head, his eyes widened as he saw the park coming into view. He pointed ahead.
"Yeah, I know, it's big huh?"
"yea," Mikey said.
((I left Lucy home, too many babies LOL))

Macbeth wandered through the park with Jo in her arms and a bundle of newspapers slung over her shoulder. After only a few days of this, her back and arms were killing her, but she figured it would only help build muscle. Besides, carrying your cute little baby "sister" attracted more customers, aside from the folks who balked at Jo's skin color. And Beth took care of them with her trademark bone-chilling glare.
She hawked a few headlines, thinking about all of it--Jo being at the lodging house, a possible job for her at Tibby's, all the help Ershey and Risk had been giving her, and of course, Tristan Shamien. And then...speak of the devil. He was headed her way at this very moment, though he didn't seem to notice her yet, and carrying a little boy. Beth blinked to make sure she wasn't hallucinating; then her whole body tensed. She looked down at Jo. "Well, this should be interesting, darling," she said grimly.

"Mum ma mum," Mikey said to Tristan as they walked.
"Oh yeah, I was thinking the same thing," Tristan said to him and then ended up with a mouth full of baby fingers. He nearly choked and then pretended to chew on them which sent Mikey into a fit of giggles.
"Da! Dadada!" Mikey said.
Tristan gently removed Mikey's hand from his mouth. "Yeah, I'm your dad." He kissed the boy's forehead and kept walking, but froze when he saw Macbeth.
Mikey of course just flopped his hands at them.

Macbeth stared at him and the kid flailing in his arms. This could not be any more awkward. "So," she said finally. "How many kids you got, then?" Jo, excited by the sight of strangers, let out a squeal and smiled, waving her arms right back at Mikey. "Na-math-teeey!" It sounded like nonsense to anyone but Beth, who knew she was lisping out "hello" in Hindi.

Tristan immediately glared at her, "Three," he said through gritted teeth. "This is Michael, Lucy's home with her mother," he explained. Tristan licked his lips and looked at Jo.
"Hey sweetheart," he said to her with a smile. He wanted to hold her, but didn't dare set Mikey down and reach out for her.
Mikey kept waving at Jo. "Ba! BABA!" ((lol))

"BETH!" Jo announced, grinning at Tristan and grabbing at Macbeth's nose.
Macbeth barely noticed; she was staring at the little boy, too shocked to speak for a while. "Well, this is gonna ruin her dreams of being a spoiled only child," she said dryly. "They both younger'n her? 'Cause she ain't ever letting some big sister boss her around, I'll tell you that right now." The slightly evil gleam in Jo's blue eyes supported this theory.

"both younger," he smirked at her. "Mikey just turned a year last month and Lucy's only three months old." He said. He had no idea why he was telling Macbeth about his other children, but hell, he already said.
He also couldn't believe how three kids of his own blood could look so different. Mikey with his blonde hair and blue eyes, Lucy with her bright red hair and Jo with her dark skin and his eyes. They were definitely his eyes.

Jo had started squirming and whimpering, so Macbeth set her down, holding on to her hand while she looked around at everything in sight and grabbed at a butterfly winging past. She missed, luckily, or it would've gone straight in her mouth.
"Wouldn't've pegged you for the fatherly type," Beth said finally. "Back in the day." Not that anyone in their right mind would ever peg her for the motherly type, either. She gave Mikey a thoughtful look. Same eyes as Jo. This was just surreal.

"Either would I," He confessed and then set Mikey down too, holding one of his hands. Mikey reached out for Jo. He looked down and saw that Mikey was getting frustrated so Tristan let him go.
The toddler immediately plopped onto his behind and laughed.

Macbeth gave Tristan a long, wary look and then let go of Jo, who ignored Mikey and immediately waddled right over to Tristan and grabbed his hand. Beth knew that was coming. Having grown up with her aunt, countless young orphans, and the nuns who ran the orphanage, Jo seemed to have an endless fascination with men.

Tristan looked down at her for a second and crouched down in front her. "Hey, I'm your dad." He smiled at her, still holding her hand and then tenderly pressed a kiss to her tiny little fingers.
"She looks like Ada..." He said absently, "cept the eyes."

"Yeah, I've noticed." Macbeth plopped down in the grass to be at Jo's level, not knowing what else to say. She was so on edge when Tristan was around, always ready to reach for a knife or launch into a bitter tirade, and here he was taking his son to the park and kissing her niece's fingers. It was sweet and strange and alarming all at once, and that just made her all the more irritated.
Jo finally noticed Mikey again and promptly smacked him on the shoulder. It was more like she was reaching for him and hit him by accident, but Beth smirked. "That's right, jan, that's how you deal with little brothers."

"Hey! Don't teach her to hit, that ain't nice," Tristan said and Mikey immediately sat there pouting, and then his chin started to wobble and then he was crying.
"Jesus...." Tristan bent down and picked him up. "Hey, you're fine. Just your mean older sister trying to push you around." He kissed Mikey's cheek and held him close. Mikey shoved his hand into his mouth while he cried.

"Oh, I'm bloody well gonna teach her to hit," Macbeth said grimly. "Not you, though," she added to Mikey, looking at the kid apologetically. "I'll find her someone bigger next time." She wondered if she could teach Jo to hit Tristan nonstop. Maybe he'd get sick of her then. She scooped up her niece again, ignoring the indignant look Jo gave her. "Well, I got papes to sell."

"Why don't you leave her with me and Mikey while you finish up and then you can meet us back here when you're done?" Tristan suggested. He knew it would be easier for her, she might not sell out as fast though.
Mikey pouted at Jo, the look on his face meant business. He was gonna get her back.
((LOL this will be them for the rest of their lives))
