Rae was tired of staying in all day and was definitely more in sync with being a new mom so she decided to take a walk and visit the lodging house. Hopefully Kloppman wouldn't condemn her to hellfire and kick her out.
She was excited to see everyone. She made her way through the streets with Sean pressed snugly against her, evidently he did not like being outside because he grunted and a frown on.
"Stop it, silly. It's just air," She rolled her eyes, he really was like his father.
Raven pushed open the door to the lodging house and called out, "Hello!" She really hoped Racetrack was home, she had something important to ask him.

Race was up in the bunkroom shooting dice and planning a trip to the tracks that night. When he heard a familiar voice calling, he grinned and bounded down the stairs. "Rae! Ain't this Sean's first trip across the bridge?" He hugged them both.

"Yeah it is and it made him grumpy, look at his face." She said and showed Sean to him who was currently pouting and wiggling little fists. She laughed. "Seriously sometimes I can't even stand how Spotlike he is."

"It's frightening," Race agreed, eyeing the baby's expression. "Just don't let him become the leader of anything and you should be all right." He poked Sean in the nose, which was becoming like their secret handshake. "So what brings you to Manhattan? Just catching up with everyone?"

Sean smiled when he did that, yes Sean loves his uncle Racetrack.
"Yeah, of course." Raven smiled at him, "and I have news." Raven said with a coy smirk.

Racetrack raised an eyebrow. "News, huh?" He gave Sean a serious look. "Your mother's got news, bambino. Best duck and cover."

Sean cooed at Race and waved his arms at him. Hold me you stupid boy!
"Whoa," Raven said and passed Sean to Race. "Evidently he is tired of his mother. Anyways...I'm getting married." She said nonchalantly.

It seriously took all of Race's self-control not to drop the baby. "You're what? Really? Spot actually, finally asked you?" He cradled Sean against his shoulder and stared at Raven over the kid's head. "Congratulations!" he added, flashing her a grin, though there was a hint of worry behind it.

"Thanks!" She was beaming, "I mean we're not getting married tomorrow, it was big enough for him to ask me, so...who knows when it'll happen," She shrugged.
"Also," She chewed on her bottom lip. "I want you to give me away."

Race stared at her for a moment, processing what she meant. Giving the bride away was usually the father's job, wasn't it? Or sometimes the brother's. But Rae's father was dead, and her brother was dead--not to mention a sadistic psychopath. So she was asking Race to do it. Basically asking him to be her brother.
"I...'course I will, Rae," he said, just a tiny bit choked up--and then he was too busy kissing her on both cheeks, bouncing her son in his arms, and rubbing away an annoying speck of dust in his eye to mention the nagging thought that this marriage thing might not be such a good idea.

"Good! Cause I don't got anybody else and you're seriously my brother Race," Raven was getting choked up now and she squeezed him in a hug.
Sean squeaked.

Race laughed and took advantage of the hug to wipe away the, er...speck of dust. "Try not to crush your baby," he advised, pulling away so Sean could get some oxygen. "I don't think that'd go over well with your fiance." He smiled at her. "And you know you've been my sister since the day we met."

Raven couldn't stop smiling, "Oh please, he's fine, look at him." She peered at her baby boy and then kissed his cheek. Sean gurgled at her.
"So how's things?"

"Things are...quiet," Race said, a little amazed by that fact. "Mostly the usual papes and gambling, and some lazy afternoons in the park with Sapphy." Maybe a little too lazy at times--Sapphy almost seemed to lack energy lately, but she'd seemed all right otherwise, so he wasn't sure what to think of it. He frowned. "Also got drunk with Ershey and Risk a couple nights ago, and I think something happened...Ershey was mad at me...I dunno, no one's said anything yet." There was quite a hole in his memory about that night, and he was rather concerned about it. "How 'bout you?"

"Spot tried to fuck me yesterday and I flipped out on him. I just shoved a watermelon out of me having sex with him is the last thing on my mind. Other than that we're fine...just really tired." She said with a laugh.
