Goblin raised an eyebrow. The girl's mother hadn't said anything about marriage. "Did you have a specific match picked out for her?" A fiance would go even higher than a father on the list of suspects.
The two children exchanged another strange glance. "We can tell him, Vi, he's a detective or something," the boy said. Violet bit her lip and pointed down the hallway. "Last door on the right."

"Of course we have. The Healey's eldest son, Jordan, is set to marry her in a couple months," answered Mr. Brewer, sighing from frustration. "They seemed to get along pretty well from what I saw." Not that they had any other choice.
Risk raised his eyebrow at the siblings' glance. "Alright," he said. "Is there anything else I need to know?"

"Jordan Healey," Goblin repeated. "I'd like to meet him. Could you give me his address?"
Violet Brewer shook her head at Risk and tugged on her brother's hand. "C'mon, James, we're supposed to be studying in the library."
James, however, lingered for a few seconds before he slowly shook his head. "Nope, nothing else." He followed his sister down the stairs.
Wraith finally popped out of the master bedroom. "Nothing suspicious in there," she announced. "Let's try Elizabeth's room."

"Just a block away from here," answered Mr. Brewer. "Just tell them I sent you, they'll let you in immediately."
Risk nodded, watching the siblings go as he followed Wraith into Elizabeth's room. "There's something about those two."

"Thank you," Goblin said casually, noting that this man was being almost suspiciously helpful. "And does Elizabeth have any other...attachments? Even just close friendships?" He remembered the first place he'd gone every time he ran away.
Wraith glanced at the stairs where the two Brewer kids had retreated and shrugged. "What kind of something?" She looked around the bedroom thoughtfully. "Looks pretty typical...this girl really enjoyed needlework, apparently...you check the closet and I'll try the drawers?"

"I told you she liked to stay at home," answered Mr. Brewer. "She wasn't one to really spend some time outside unless needed. She's odd in that way."
"I don't know... I can't put my finger on it," shrugged Risk, brushing it off and heading towards the drawers.

Goblin nodded once more. "Thank you, Mr. Brewer. I think that's everything, except...do you know where I might find your other two children? I'd like to speak to them briefly, if that's all right."
Wraith opened the closet and started her search. Clothes, shoes, still more half-finished swaths of needlework..."Anything yet?" she asked Risk.

"Of course," nodded Mr. Brewer, standing up to lead him towards the children's room. "They're usually in their room, so that's your best bet. I don't know how helpful they can be, though."
Risk sighed, looking through drawers and items scattered around the room. "Nothing out of the ordinary here..."

"Just want to cover all the bases," Goblin assured him, standing up. "I'll see if I can find them. Thanks for all your help, Mr. Brewer."
"Not here either--wait." There was something buried under all those shoes. Wraith pulled out a little diary with a floral-print cover and opened it, her eyebrows shooting up. It was full of writing. "Do we dare?" she asked with a smirk, looking at Risk.

"My pleasure," he smiled, gently knocking on the childrens' door before opening it. "Just let me know if you need anything else."
"Yes!" muttered Risk, almost ripping the diary off of her hands and flipping through the pages. "I'm sure there's something in here..."

Goblin entered the room to find the two kids sitting at separate desks, bent over their school books. "Hey," he said softly, clearing his throat and dropping the high-class language. "Anything you two wanna tell me about your sister?"
"Well? What's it say?" Wraith demanded, crouching behind Risk and peering over his shoulder as she tried to get a look at the diary.

Violet and James' eyes went wide as they stared at him. They glanced at each other, then at Goblin, then back down at their books. "Why should we help you?" asked James defensively.
"Wait, I think I found something... who's Jordan?" squinted Risk as he tried to discern Elizabeth's writing.

"Because my friends and I are doing everything we can to...make sure Elizabeth's all right," said Goblin, choosing his words carefully as he remembered that scrap of paper. STOP LOOKING. "If there's anything you're holding back...I could keep it between us. This is about helping Elizabeth, not your parents." Never mind that they're the ones who are paying me.
"Jordan? Dunno." Wraith glanced at the door. "Maybe Sebastian's found out by now, though. Why, what's it say about him?"

"I don't know..." said Violet hesitantly, holding her book close to her chest. "You're awfully friendly..."
"Yeah, like that Jordan guy!"
"James!" shouted Violet, her eyes bulging.
"...Just doodles about how she likes him," answered Risk, flipping through the pages to find if there was anything more revealing.

"Your sister's fiance?" Goblin asked casually. "You think he's too friendly?"
Wraith watched Risk turn the pages. "Likes him, huh? Well, I hope her parents approve. You can't 'like' just anyone when you've got this kind of money." She said this kind of bitterly; needless to say, her parents never would have approved of anyone she liked.
