Raven was sitting at a table with Sean on her lap. He was laughing and slapping the table with his hands. Raven was desperately trying to shove some ferina into his mouth. It wasn't going well. She sighed heavily and flicked her hair out of her face.

Race hurried into the Refuge, not wanting to be a second late for his meeting with Rae. He'd been desperate for details about what the hell happened--ever since he stood beside her in church, waiting to walk her down the aisle and hand her over to a groom who never showed up.
"Hey," he said, sliding into the seat across from her and trying to smile. "How are youse two holding up?"

"This little guy is just fine," Raven said, finally landing a spoonful of soft mush into Sean's mouth. Sean blinked and then opened and closed his mouth, tongue flopping. Raven expertly wiped the excess from his mouth.
"As for me..." she shrugged.

Race touched her hand sympathetically and then gave her a look. "I'm gonna kill him if he ever comes back, y'know." Well, not kill kill him, but he was mad as hell. And it took a lot to get him mad. He and Spot had fought about a million stupid things before, but seeing his best friend's face when Spot jillted her at the altar? Yeah, that had crossed a line.

"I know," she looked across at him and her eyes filled with tears,"fuck," she used her free hand and wiped at her eyes furiously. Sean grabbed at the spoon Rae was using to feed him and she took it away.
"No," she said sternly and Sean pouted.

Race's instinct was to hold her and let her cry on his shoulder like he always had before, but he knew there was a better way for him to help this time. "Here, lemme take him," he said, lifting Sean into his lap and taking the spoon. "C'mon, bambino, give your mama a break, huh?" he said, playfully poking the kid in the nose and resuming his feeding. "You're gonna be all right," he told Rae softly as he spooned food into her son's mouth. "He ain't even worth it, Rae, not if he'd do this to you."

"I know I know," she sighed heavily and then sniffled, she picked up the hot cup of coffee at her side and took a sip. "I just don't get it, I don't fucking get it. For once everything was fine."
Sean smiled at her from across the table. He opened and closed a hand at her, his way of saying hi. She couldn't help but smile.
"Yeah I know you're all the way over there. Hi Sean, hi." She said sweetly and he squeaked at her.

Race had to smile when Sean squeaked. He kissed the little guy's head, then looked grimly at Rae. "Maybe that's the problem. 'Member how things useta be in Brooklyn, one crisis after another? I think Spot panics when everything's fine."

Raven half smiled at him and then laughed a little. "Who knows...or maybe it's me." She looked out the window. "Maybe he just doesn't want to be with me." She was holding the coffee mug in two hands as she looked out at the street, it was started to rain, a calm slow drizzle falling down.
"It doesn't matter...he's not coming back, its been almost a month."

((Whoa, didn't realize it had been that long. *punches Spot*)) "It ain't you," Race assured her firmly. "He's been with you for how many years now? Spot loves you, all right, he just ain't got a goddamn clue how to handle that. Which means he don't deserve you, whether he comes back or not." He finished feeding Sean and grabbed a napkin, wiping a bit of mush from the corner of his mouth. "He's a lot neater'n Macbeth's niece, and she's a lot older," he said with a proud grin.

Raven laughed, "it's cause he's still small, he ain't figured out how to use his hands right yet." Sean drooled as he smiled stupidly at his mother.
"I am so done with him, Race...so done." She sighed heavily. "What makes me more upset is that Sean might never know him."

"You could, y'know...trade him back and forth now and then...like Tristan and Macbeth with Jo, only hopefully with less glaring and insults." Though, knowing Rae and Spot, there would be more.
This was all still a little surreal, he thought as he held Sean against his shoulder. Despite the constant fighting, the running away from each other and then running back again, he'd never really thought Spot and Raven would end things for good. He was so used to thinking of them as a couple. But it was Spot's own damn fault. Rae deserved someone who would always be there for her and her son. He had to stop himself from mentally running through a list of his friends.

((OH MY GOD, is everyone gonna try and set Rae up now? LOL))
"I'm not sending Sean to Chicago," Raven said. "So that's out of the question so he would have to come back to see him. He left us for a reason...bastard. I could kill him ya know? I could tear his eyes out." She sighed heavily again.
"I just want to see him again so I can punch him in the face. For all the shit he's pulled I never thought he would abandon me, ever." Raven raked her fingers through her hair and took another sip of her coffee.
"Anyway I have a more serious problem, I'm running out of money. I was hoping you could watch Sean today while I look for a job." She smiled at him. "He'll be good."
Sean stared up at Racetrack and slapped his face with his hand. Rae winced.

((Yep. Just think how rare a single girl is around here.))
Race smirked. "No, he won't, but o'course I will. I'm sure you'll find something." Meanwhile, he was kind of hoping Spot never came back, because the ensuing confrontation between him and Rae would be a fight to end all fights. Although he really wouldn't mind punching Spot in the face himself.

Raven smiled at Race, "Thank you, really. You know my son is a tiny terror and you'll watch him anyway. I really appreciate it."
Sean laughed at that and smiled. He grunted and pouted, he was hungry damn it. More food.
"Uncle Race, I think he's hungry," She pointed at her son and smirked. "That's his hungry face."
