Sean glanced at his mother and then shoved his fingers in his mouth.
"Yes, people are a constant surprise aren't they?" Mrs. Ellyson said with a smirk.

"Oh you know...today when you told me about that boy. I guess I just thought I'd never see the day when you were truly smitten." Mrs. Ellyson said with a soft smile.
"Don't let him have everything he wants though...boys can be dirty rotten bastards if you let 'em." Raven said and then clapped a hand over her mouth.
Mrs. Ellyson stared at her for a second and then burst out laughing. "Your mother has some mouth on her." She said to Sean.

Kathryn laughed, too, shaking her head in amusement. She wished she had the guts to swear as freely as Raven did. She felt like it many times around her parents, but she preferred to break rules behind their backs.

Raven smiled then, "sorry about that."
"Will you sit down already and stop standing there, hovering about me. If I need something I'll ask you to go get it." Mrs. Ellyson said suddenly and scooted her chair over so Rae could fit.
"You know, our relationship is quickly crossing the line between servant and employer." Raven said with a smirk and sat down.
"I don't give a fiddler's fart, you're amusing." Mrs. Ellyson said and then handed Sean over to her when he started squirming and reach for his mother. Raven wrapped her arms around his middle and bounced her knee for him.
"So tell me, where's this child's father?"
"In Chicago..." Raven said with a sigh.

"What's he doing in Chicago?" Kathryn asked, one eyebrow quirked as she looked over at Raven. She wondered if she had heard of him from Blink.

"God only knows, probably got himself a new girlfriend for all I know. He just up and left," Raven shrugged. She hated Spot more and more every single day. If he ever did come back he is was in for a serious ass kicking.
"Oh my dear girl," Mrs. Ellyson said and tenderly patted her arm. "From what I can see you're doing just fine." She smiled.
"Also going slightly insane, but nobody can tell that yet," Raven smirked.

"Men. They're all idiots," Kathryn said, repeating something her grandmother had told her occasionally. She looked over at her, winking and letting out a small giggle.

"Exactly, but they can be used to your advantage too, which I told my Kathryn as well." Grandma smiled at her Kathryn.
"Wish I had learned that earlier instead of letting him knock me up and then run off. I swear I'll kill him if he ever comes back." Sean clapped. "Sean thinks it's a good idea."

Raven laughed and shook her head.
"Well my dears, I have an appointment. Can't keep the lawyer waiting. You two entertain each other while I'm gone." Mrs. Ellyson stood up and kissed Kathryn on the cheek. When she was gone Raven smiled at Kathryn.
"Your grandmother is the sweetest person in the world."

Kathryn smiled back, a bit ruefully. "She's definitely the most entertaining," she replied, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "But she doesn't judge like my parents do. It's why I love spending time with her over them."
