((Damn Beth and her cynical little heart. I want to cuddle him so bad!)) She winced at his tone of voice. He sounded like he'd actually meant it. Which meant she'd hurt him, which she hadn't even thought she was capable of. He always seemed to laugh everything off or turn it back on her. Until now. "Alec?" she said, stopping to look back at him. She'd never actually called him that before. "Find someone else. Seriously." For your own sake, she added silently, walking on toward the lodging house.

((I know!! They're so cute! <3 Want Ershey to jump in?))
Risk refused to answer back. He clenched his jaw before nodding and finally walked away.

((Haha, Script, I love you and your lurking ways. And Ersh--definitely. Beth needs her BFF!))

Ershey smiled as she cuddled Jo on the couch. Once the door opened, Jo let out a squeal and immediately reached out her hands for Macbeth.
"Hey," said Ershey. "Er, you okay? Somethin' happen?"
((Gotta run! <3))

((Ok! See ya later! <3))
Macbeth heaved a theatrical sigh and flopped on the couch beside Ershey. She swung Jo into her lap and kissed her, wiggling her fingers in order to avoid Ershey's gaze. "Your brother," she muttered. "I think he just...I mean, he definitely, uh...asked me out. On a date. I said no," she added flatly.

Ershey's jaw dropped as she gasped loudly and punched Macbeth lightly on the shoulder. "You said no?! Why?! Beth!"

"So many reasons," she said, setting Jo on the cushion beside her and burying her face in the back of the couch. She had a horrifying urge to burst into tears.

"Why?!" urged Ershey, inching closer to Beth. "Really, Beth, why not? I don't understand... did you ever notice that he doesn't really talk to other newsgirls other than me? Which leaves you! Wait, how did he take it?"
Ershey was bursting at the seams. She'd always figured that Risk and Macbeth would make a great pair. However, she hated how they just wouldn't get together already.

((*randomly woke up at 3 in the morning and can't get back to sleep, so hopefully my posts make sense right now* ^_^))
"I gotta date him just 'cause I'm the only girl he talks to?" Beth said, her voice kind of muffled by the cushions. "He...I dunno. He was sad. It was horrible."

"That's not what I meant, Beth," said Ershey, rolling her eyes at her. "He pays attention to you and takes care of Jo... wait, he was sad? Aww, Beth, really?" ((Hahahah no worries!! I'm about to crash after a couple more posts ))

((Same here, hopefully!))
She nodded miserably and finally lifted her face. There were tears on it. She wiped them away. Jo, totally oblivious, was unraveling a thread from her blouse. "I can't...I just don't...for one thing, I have no idea why he likes me in the first place. I mean, yeah, I've been reasonably nice to him lately, but I'm still me, Ersh! And for another thing, I can't do it. The whole relationship thing. It's like someone else owns part'a you, and you gotta worry all the time about what they think, and how to act, and how to not say the wrong thing, and I don't want none'a that! I'm fine on my own! We was fine..." She took a ragged breath and let it out. "I don't know why he had to go and complicate everything."

Ershey sighed sadly as she placed her hand on Beth's arm and gently squeezed it. "It's alright... maybe if you explain it to him he might understand? But really, Beth, there's no reason not to like who you are. You two are just... good at understanding each other and getting at the same level. That's not easy for either one of you."

"Explain it to him?" Beth shuddered. "I'm hoping he'll be asleep when I get back. And out when I wake up. And maybe he won't come back till I'm either out or asleep, and then...d'you think it's possible to live with someone and never see 'em?" she asked hopefully.
After pondering Ershey's words a bit, she sighed again and added, "I know we understand each other. That's kinda the problem." And then she turned to Ershey with kind of a crazed look in her eye. "Ersh, d'you think I should cut my hair?"

Ershey blinked. "Uh, what? Your hair looks fine, Beth," she replied, shooting her a worried look. "Are you two going to avoid each other now? Is that what's going to happen? And are you cutting your hair for Risk?"
