She looked up at him with utter confusion, the first real emotion she had shown. Then she shoved him, hard. "No! I spilled my guts out to you, something I've never done with anyone! And you repay me by having sex with another girl! And you think I'll let you hold me?! What is wrong with you?!"

She shoved him again, because she felt like it. "I hate you. You -- you're -- you're just --" then, despite her refusal to cry in front of him, her eyes filled up with tears. They slowly began to fall down her cheeks.

"Rosie...Rosie, baby, please don't say that...don't say you hate me." And even though he knew she wouldn't have wanted him to, he gathered her into his arms anyway, holding her closely and gently, kissing her hair and murmuring heartbroken apologies.

As much as she wanted to shove him away again, she found she just couldn't. He felt so wonderful and strong and safe. She didn't return his embrace, but she didn't push him away.

He kissed her hair, her ear, her jaw, murmuring to her. "I'm sorry, Baby...so, so sorry..." He felt like a complete and utter ass. He'd hurt her for no good reason.
