Turning the key into the lock, Risk opened the door to his new apartment. Well, technically, it was his and Macbeth's new apartment. He took a step inside, amazed at the amount of space they had. With a small kitchen, living room and two rooms, it was more than enough for two people. He was just glad he still had the connections to pull it off.
He glanced out in the hallway, wondering whether Macbeth had found the place and hoped she didn't get lost.

Macbeth made her way down the street at a rather slow pace, since she had to match Jo's tiny strides. She would have carried her, but she was carrying a bag containing everything the two of them owned. Kind of depressing that it wasn't even heavy.
Finding the address, she headed up a few flights of stairs and found Risk standing in the doorway, looking in. "Hey," she said kind of awkwardly. "How's it look?"

Risk jumped when he heard Macbeth's voice. He awkwardly moved inside, opening the door for the both of them.
"Not bad," he answered, immediately picking up Jo for a hug. "I think it's good enough for us... it's not like we need a lot of space, right?"

"RITHK!" Jo cried immediately, her face lighting up with a big grin as she wrapped her arms around his neck.
Macbeth, who had lived in far worse places, tried not to look too impressed as she glanced around. "It's...actually kinda nice," she muttered. "Or, y'know, it could be. Are we gonna hafta fight for the best room?" she joked with a smirk.

Risk smiled as Jo wrapped her arms around his neck. He walked over to the master bedroom with Jo still in his arms. "You and Jo can have the bigger room," he said as he glanced inside. "You two need the space, anyway."

"Thanks," Beth muttered still more awkwardly, following him in and dumping her bag on the bed. "Whaddaya think, Jo?"
"Fish," Jo announced.
Macbeth rolled her eyes at Risk. "Does she want a pet fish? Fish for dinner? Does she wanna be a fish? I don't even know what to do with her these days." In fact, Jo was growing up pretty fast, and it scared the hell out of her. She'd taken care of her niece from a distance from the past couple years, but she had always maintained that she could never really be a mother--until Tristan scared her into it. Now she was just kind of winging it.

"I think she likes it," grinned Risk, setting her down on the bed. He stuffed his hands in his pockets and stood there awkwardly. He'd already brought in his things earlier, dumping it into the smaller room (which really didn't take too long). Normally, he would've gone out for a smoke but he figured smoking inside wasn't an option.
"Uh... need help?"

"With what? Throwing some clothes in the closet and stacking my books in a corner?" She smirked. "Not really. You can tell me what you've been up to, though. How's your friend Nate?"

Risk shrugged, sitting on the bed and gently tickling Jo. "He's looking for a job... but he's usually just at the house fixin' things. He's not so bad, y'know?"

Beth snorted. "I don't like him." She flopped across the bed, leaning her head on her elbow and peering at Risk through narrowed eyes. "Look, I know I was out of line with him, I'm always fucking outta line, but I still don't like him." Her eyes drifted away, counting the stains on the wallpaper. "He reminds me of someone."

Risk frowned, glancing over at Macbeth. "Who? Is that why you don't like him?"

"Guy at my old lodging house, name of Dusk. He'd get pissed at me like everyone else, but he was so damn patronizing about it." She clenched her fist around a handful of pillow, glaring at the wall. "He'd fucking call me 'kiddo' all the time, the way your friend kept calling me 'miss.' And then he'd pick apart everything I said. Made him feel all superior, I guess. But I really hated him, y'know? And not just in my usual 'I hate everyone' kinda way."

((Awwww, Dusk! ;D))
"What'd he do? Just bug the hell outta you?" he asked curiously, unable to understand how Macbeth could hate someone than her 'usual'.

((Hahaha, it's so surreal, because the thing that really made her hate Dusk was that he beat Risk to a pulp. Which, er, didn't happen in this universe.))
"Me and a couple friends'a mine." She shook her head. "Ain't like it matters--I'll never hafta see him again, or that friend'a yours either, now that we've moved out." With an effort, she unclenched her fist and softened her glare. It helped that Jo was now squirming and giggling hysterically. "So...what now?"

"Hungry?" asked Risk, noticing that the sun was going down. "I brought what I had from my old place... and borrowed a couple things that should be good enough to come up with something."
((LOL. Oh, MLH, I miss you.))
