He sighed, wrapping his arms fully around her in return. "We're pathetic, aren't we?" he asked, smirking ruefully.

She sighed. "No. We just have a really different perspective on things than a lot of the others in the House. We knew our parents, and we loved them. We know what we're missing." She nuzzled against him, feeling a new kinship with him.

"Which makes it that much worse," he muttered. He hadn't cried in a long time over his parents, but if he went on much longer this way, he felt he might.

She lifted her chin, meeting his eyes a minute, then leaned up, pressing her lips to his softly, soothingly.

He shifted on the bench so he could kiss her better, cradling her cheek in his palm. "This helps, though," he muttered against her lips, smirking a bit, as well.

She purred into the kiss. "Mm, good...I'm glad..." She kissed him deeper, sliding her tongue into his mouth.

He changed the angle of his head, kissing her deeper and sucking on her tongue. Under all the taste of the beef stew they'd just had, he could still taste brownies. Or was it cookies? Or maybe cake... Maybe all three. Whatever it was, it tasted divine and it tasted like her.

She let out a moan as he deepened the kiss, pressing against him. She murmured, breathless, "Michael...I--I want you..."

"I'm right here," he replied, holding her tighter. He knew what she meant, but he stilll wasn't 100% convinced she was over him. He wanted to be... Oh, Lord, did he want to be. But his damn gut told him otherwise.

She nearly whimpered, feeling like she wanted to cry. Why couldn't he just understand that it wasn't so easy getting over Sebastian? I would take her months -- maybe she'd never be fully over him, ever.
She wasn't going to be alone the rest of her life, just because a part of her heart would always belong to Goblin.
She pulled out of the kiss, frustrated and desperate, chest constricting.
((Oh, and I finally listened to the song!))

((I'm listening to it right now! Ha! I can really get into singing along to this song, lol))
He winced, knowing he'd said the wrong thing. "Hey," he said softly, catching her chin in his hand and pressing his forehead against hers. "Tell me what you're thinking."

((Haha, cute!))
"Michael, I--" she took a breath, trying to decide how honest she should be. "I know you're waiting until you think I'm over Goblin, but..." And she worded this very carefully, "but I wouldn't be here with you if I didn't like you, if I didn't want you..."

((Just like with any Taylor Swift song. Or any song, really. I just love to sing along )) Since she was honest with him, he decided to be honest with her. "I just...I like you, Maggie. And I don't want you to be thinking about him when...when we're together." That sounded absolutely pathetic, but it was the truth.

((AMEN.))
"Oh, Mike...Mike, I wouldn't." She sat up, framing his face in her hands. "My head would be too full of you."

He took one of her hands and stood up, pulling her up with him. "Come with me," he said softly, his eyes smiling down at her.
