She smirked. "Yeah, I know he is." She lifted a shoulder, leaning back on her elbows to look up at the stars just starting to show as the sun went down. "He's pretty hot."

She shrugged again, but didn't look at him, just stared up at the sky. "Maybe he's not what I'm after."

Her mouth turned down into a frown and she turned her head to give him a hard look. A million things were racing through her head, and she was sure he could see it in her eyes, so she got up. "Whatever, Conlon. And don't call me Jacquie." She headed down the fire escape, towards the street.

"Goodnight, Jacquie," Sean called down her and then laughed, shaking his head.
"Sean get your ass inside!" Raven called from the house.
"Comin!" Sean glancing down and watched Jacqueline walking away before he climbed into the house.

Jacqueline fumed all the way home. For the next couple of days, she avoided Brooklyn like the damn plague. But then her mother told her Rae had asked her to babysit on Friday night, and she couldn't say no. But she didn't have to be happy about it.
She knocked on the Conlon's door, trying not to look as pissed off as she still felt.

Sean opened the door and then smirked when he was who it was, "Heya Jacquie."
"Li Li!" Connor shrieked from the living room.
"Thank God you're here, we're late." Raven said as she stood in front of the hall mirror, sticking a ruby earring through her ear. Spot came up behind her and kissed her cheek. She smiled pausing for a second and then she shook her head.
"Everyone out! Boys, you better be back in this house at a reasonable hour..." Rae warned them with a stern glare. Both her sons nodded. Though no Conlon would outright admit it, their mother put the fear of God in them.

She ignored Sean, then smiled brightly at Connor, scooping him up and setting him on her hip. "Don't worry, Rae, I've got everything covered. Have a good time. Say bye to Mama and Daddy, Connor."

"Bye bye!" Connor waved with a huge smile.
"My only sweet boy!" Raven said and gave him a huge kiss and hug, "Have fun."
"Come on ma, we can be sweet." Sean said with a grin. He grabbed his coat from the closet and slipped it on. Patrick snorted and popped his cigar in his mouth.
"You'se get arrested I ain't coming to get you," Spot said, he definitely meant it.
"Lina you try to runaway again and I will break your leg." Raven said as the troupe left for the night. Lina pouted on the couch.

Jacqueline waved them off, closing the door once they were gone. She didn't understand how they managed to keep it together with so many crazy personalities.
She glanced over at Sean, frowning. He was probably going out to fuck some Brooklyn tramp groupie.
"Come on, Connor. Let's read a book, and then it's bedtime." She pulled a small sack out of her back and tossed it onto Lina's lap. "Make up." She winked at her.

Sean smiled at her and then left the house with Patrick trailing behind him.
Lina beamed with delight and Connor snuggled up close to her, getting cozy while she read him a story.
A little before midnight when Lina and Connor were sleeping Sean crept back into the house. He slowly closed the door behind him.

Rae and Spot still weren't back yet, and Jaqueline was curled up on the couch, reading a dirty novel she'd swiped from her mom. Her shoes were off, sitting sideways on the couch, knees pulled up, propping up her book, and she was twirling a piece of her hair around her finger.

Sean couldn't help but notice her reading by the light of the lamp. He smiled, she looked like a normal girl, not trying to be so haughty or cool toward him. He walked over to her. "Have a good night?" He asked in a whisper.

She put up a finger, eyes still on her book. "Shh." She finished the page, letting out a little sigh as she finally closed the book. Then she tilted her face up at him. "Hi."
