Lillian had been in her bathroom for the past hour or so, getting ready for her date. It was her first date since The Break-Up. The nastiest break-up in history. She and Tyler had been together for almost a year and had been pretty crazy in love. But they fought a lot, and that night it just went too far. But she hadn't looked back since they walked away from each other - much.
She had to say, though, she was excited to get to know this guy. Ben, his name was. They worked together, but in different departments. So it wasn't really breaking the unspoken "No Office Relationships" rule. She checked her phone. No text messages and it was almost time for him to come pick her up.

Cav was always late to everything, because he never understood other people's obsession with time. He texted Lillian when he pulled into her building's lot, then headed up to her apartment.
He'd known Lillian awhile, and always admired her whenever they had office parties. She always had this big, burly southern guy with her, though. When he heard they'd broken up, he was on that like white on rice.
He knocked on her door.

((lol okay!))
Lillian spritzed some perfume on, ran a hand through her curls, then headed for the door, her black wedge heels clacking on the hardwood floor of her apartment. She opened the door, smiling at him when she saw him. "Hey," she greeted. In her mind, she immediately compared him to Tyler. He wasn't as tall, his hair was darker, he was more svelte, and she knew he didn't have that sexy Southern drawl. Then she shook her head slightly. She had to stop doing that.

Cav flashed her a smile. "Hey." He didn't bring her flowers or anything like that. He thought that was cheesy and old-fashioned. "You ready to go? I know this great pub downtown. McGinty's. You know it?"

She nodded, grabbing her small clutch purse from the side table next to the door. "Yeah, I've always wanted to go there," she informed him, stepping outside and closing the door behind her, locking it.

He led her to his car, holding the passenger door open for her before moving around to get in. He chatted amiably with her as he drove to the pub, parking and holding the door for her to let her into the bar. "Here we are." He led her over to a booth in the corner.

She slid into the booth, smoothing down her dress once she was settled in. "This place is nice, very old-timey. I like it."

He nodded. "Some of the guys come here after work sometimes. It's pretty chill." The waitress came to give them menus, and Cav ordered a beer. "Want anything to drink?"

"I'll have the same," she told the waitress with a nod. She opened her menu, studying all the choices.

The waitress left to get their drinks, and Cav looked at her over his menu. "You look good, Lil."

She blushed a bit, biting her lip to suppress a shy smile. "Thanks. So do you," she replied, though a thought popped into her head that noted Tyler would've filled that sweater out better than he did. Damn it!

Cav grinned at her, and the waitress came back with their drinks and to take their order.
They were having a pretty good time, the conversation was good, Cav was charming, Lillian was sweet. The food and drinks were delicious.
And then they heard someone clear their throat, standing by their booth.

Lillian blinked, her mouth set into a somewhat stern line. She knew who it was before they had even cleared their throat. She turned around to look up at him, not even bothering to plaster a smile on her face. He would know it was fake.
"Hi, Tyler..."

((Annnd, I just realized I'd been referring to him as "Cav" instead of "Ben". Meh.))
Tyler frowned at her, eyes darting between her and Ben. "Lil. Ben." His voice had a hard edge to it. He was not happy about the sight in front of him.
Ben arched a brow. Oh, this couldn't be good. "Hi, uh..."
"Tyler." He set his jaw.
"Tyler. Right."

Lillian sighed, resisting the urge to roll her eyes. "What're you doing here?" she asked, quirking an eyebrow at him.
