"There's a hostel a couple blocks away from here," replied Sammie, glaring at the two of them. "Get out. Now. Eastman will find the two of you if he wants to."
((Okay!))

"Great. So nice to meet you, love," Macbeth said with one last smirk before leading Risk down the street. If they had to work with that girl again, there was no way Beth could restrain herself from punching her.
"Well," she said softly when they'd put some distance between themselves and the headquarters. "That could've gone worse."

"They could've killed us back there," muttered Risk, realizing what he just pulled on Sammie. If Macbeth wasn't there, he knew he wouldn't have had a way out.

"Yeah, well, we both got an issue with keeping our tempers." She glanced over her shoulder, wondering if they were being tailed, and lowered her voice even more, walking close to him. "Remind me again why you're even doing this?"

Risk shrugged, frowning. "Goblin talked me into it," he replied, even though he knew well enough it didn't take much pushing for him to get into this. He refused to say that he was bored -- with the Detective case and Ershey under wraps and put to rest, he hadn't had much going on.

She raised an eyebrow. "Do you realize just how many goddamn ways this could go wrong? We could do everything they say, and they might still shoot us, just to tie up loose ends. And you're doing it to satisfy some other kid's vendetta?"

"I know, I realize it," muttered Risk, glaring at her. "I'm not going back in there just for nothing. If we can get rid of Eastman, then fine. He made me the way I am -- he ruined my family and made me horrible at twelve. It was the reason Adri ran away and everything fell to pieces. So if what we're doing, whatever it is, can put them to the ground, then I'm in."

She heard him out and nodded at the end of his speech. With just a hint of a smile. "See now, that's better. Now I feel like I'm aiding a worthy cause."

"You could've just asked," muttered Risk, leading her out of the alley as he tried to look for the hostel that Sammie mentioned earlier.
((Ooh! Totally have an idea when Ershey gets ambushed as a threat from the gang! ><))

"Didn't have time till now. We stopped talking to each other for a while, 'member?" she said with a smirk, and pointed out a decrepit little building with a faded sign: Kowalski's Hostel. "I 'member this place. Ain't changed much." She headed inside.

"You know this place?" said Risk surprisingly as he followed her inside. He asked the receptionist for the cheapest room and immediately grabbed the key before Macbeth had a chance to take it from him.

She blinked at his possessiveness over the key. "Geez, you think I'm gonna lock you out or something? Yeah, I know it. My friends down the hall were always running away from home...they'd stay here sometimes."

"You ever stay here before?" he asked curiously as he took the stairs and looked for their room.

"Nah, I didn't have nothing to run from. Just poor old Dad, and a drunken, fucked-up sister who wasn't there half the time." She pointed out the right door. "How 'bout you? You're from the Bronx, right? Did you just commute to Five Points back in the day?" she asked with a very grim smile, picturing twelve-year-old Risk journeying through those streets for his "training" with Eastman.

"Yeah, they let me stay at the headquarters and sleep over if I needed to... they knew I could handle things well enough but they refused to let me sleep at a hostel by myself," he replied, trying the key and opening it to let Macbeth inside.
