"Well, they should've been there to talk some bloody sense into you. If Jo ever took one step toward Five Points, I'd know it," she grumbled, feeling oddly indignant on the part of twelve-year-old Risk. Especially since it was because of the delinquent habits of twelve-year-old Risk that they were here in the first place, sleeping on moldy beds under a leaky roof and waiting for their next assignment to kill or maim someone.

"You should get some sleep," muttered Risk as he climbed onto the top bunk. He wasn't planning on getting any sleep. He knew how Eastman's gang worked (or at least he thought so -- there were so many changes) that he was going to stay up for a couple hours as watch just to make sure.

She snorted. "Oh, yeah, that's likely." She reached over and drew the curtains shut, but didn't close her eyes. "What if they tell us to kill someone? You thought about that?"

Her heart skipped a beat at that question. "Yeah, Risk, he'll take care of her. That don't mean I want him taking care of her forever, if you get my drift." She frowned up at his bunk, even though he couldn't see it. "We're gonna fucking come back from this, all right? Don't be morbid." And if Macbeth was telling you not to be morbid, it was time to worry.

"I got myself in," she corrected him. "To make sure you get out. So just...don't do anything stupid, and we'll be fine." And she rolled over and closed her eyes, although she knew sleep wouldn't be happening for some time, if at all.
