Kathryn woke up the next morning before her maid came in to help her dress for her father's speech in only a few hours. She reached her hand out to see if Leo was still there.

She hit Leo right in the face. "oof." Leo muttered, gathering her up in his arms and squeezing. "now I'm never letting you go."

She giggled, nuzzling her face into his chest. "Leo, my maid will be coming in soon. You should go."

He sighed loudly, and reached for his mask, slipping it on. "Fine" he kissed her, sighing loudly, and heading towards the window. "Your knife. Have it on you at the speech."

Just as Leo was out of sight, Kathryn's maid came in, smiling and asking which dress she'd like to wear to the speech. Kathryn chose a dark green one with lace accents, one that would easily conceal a knife in her bodice. And also one that Leo would appreciate.
A few hours later, Kathryn sat on stage behind her father. He was making the speech just as Leo said, though she could tell he was nervous.

Kathryn had spotted Leo early on, but tried her hardest to keep from glancing up at him. She didn't want other people following her gaze and spotting him. Just to be safe. Somehow she managed to keep her face devoid of any expression other than a smidgen of interest. But her heart was racing, and every so often her stomach would turn as nerves ate away at her insides.

Then it happened. A gunshot. The mayor was shot in the chest, and Leo jumped from the rooftop, landing on the man with the gun, choking him.

Kathryn screamed and tried to run to her father, but one of his bodyguards held her and her mother back.
