Leo grabbed the gun from the bad guy, emptying the bullets and handing it over to a nearby police.
"who are you working for?" Leo barked at the man who spat at his face. "alright get him outta here.." Leo grabbed the man and delivered him to jail. He spent an hour trying to get answers out of him, but got nothing. Until he checked the man's wallet, where he saw a business card. On his way to the man's office, Zorro stopped at the mayors mansion, to see how he and Kathryn were doing.

Kathryn was pacing in the corridor outside of her parent's bedroom. The doctor was still in there, but they wouldn't let her come in.

He knocked on the door, and a maid let him in. He found Kathryn and since no one was around, embraced her.

She put her hands on his chest, burying her face in his shirt. She didn't say anything; she didn't even cry. She just breathed deeply, nuzzling his chest.

Leo held her close and kissed the top of her head. "I have a lead that I'm going to check out. But how is he?"

She shrugged. "I don't know. I assume he's still alive, but no one has told me anything," she said, sounding annoyed. Which she had a right to be.

Zorro untangled himself from her and banged on the door. "they'll be damned to keep Zorro in the dark, wouldn't they?" Leo mumbled to her waiting for the door to open.

Kathryn's mother opened the door, looking a bit distressed. "What do you -- oh...Zorro. Er, please...come in." She opened the door a bit wider, but shot a look at Kathryn that definitely said she wasn't allowed.

She sighed, then shook her head. "No, I'll be okay out here," she said, her eyes telling Leo she would be all right.

"He's...doing fine. It was a bit touch and go there for a while, but the doctor is confident he will pull through. What about that man? Did you catch him? Why are they after my husband?" she asked, tears starting to form in her eyes.

"yes, I got him. But I do not think the danger has passed. And I do not know why they want to hurt the mayor. Political reasons l think." Leo explained, with a shrug. "please let the mayor know that I stopped by."
