The Legend of Zorro (c)

[Leo]

Leo looked down at his own glass, hesitating. On one hand he'd love to have a little buzz on him. On the other, drinking was never a good idea, especially when he could be called in for Zorro duties at anytime. He finished off his glass anyway. He'll be fine. "i'd have to agree..."

[Kathryn]

As the night grew darker, Kathryn grew drunker. She knew she would regret it, for what would Leo think of her?! But she had just gotten so tired of these rich, stuffy parties.

Now, she was out on the terrace, having been separated from Leo somehow and banished outside by her ashamed mother. The air was chilly, but pleasant. And she was still very much in her cups.

[Leo]

"hey, there you are," Leo said as he walked outside, taking off his jacket and wrapping it around her shoulders. "You okay?" he allowed his hand to land on the small of her back, looking at her with concern.

[Kathryn]

"I'm absolutely marvelous," she replied, slurring quite heavily. "Managed to embarrass my parents. Who doesn't wanna do that?" She leaned against him, inhaling his scent.

[Leo]

Leo didn't let go of her, but somehow felt responsible. He wrapped his arm fully around her, pulling her close. Partly because he had two glasses of liquid courage in him, and partly because he could tell she had way more than that. "Because of me?" He asked her, his voice as soothing as possible.

[Kathryn]

"Oh, no no no no. They completely forgot about you after my sixth glass of champagne - or was it seventh? I don't know. Now it's all because of me," she said, smiling and starting to laugh.

[Leo]

"what could you have possibly done? You've been nothing but a delight to me all night!" Leo joked, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear.

[Kathryn]

"You sound like you're joking," she said, raising her eyebrows as she looked up at him. "I'm sloppy, I'm a very sorry drunk..." She screwed up her nose. "Switch that. Though I guess I'm a sorry drunk, too."

[Leo]

Leo laughed, reaching forward to stroke her cheek. "you are perfect. I have no idea what you are talking about. Everyone loves you in there."

[Kathryn]

"Everyone except my parents," she said lightly, laughing, though she was completely serious. She put a hand on his chest, swaying a bit on her feet.

[Leo]

"Why do you say that?" Leo asked, frowning and concerned as he wrapped his arms around her, determined to hold her up completely. And close to him. He knew she didn't have the greatest home life, but he really didn't know much else besides that. He admitted that while Kathryn was probably one of the most important people in his life, he really didn't know much about her. It wasn't that he didn't want to know. He wanted to know everything about her- he just knew she would expect the same in return, and Leo didn't think he could lie to her.

[Kathryn]

"Oh, come on," she sputtered, resting her head against his chest. "They're far too busy and important to spend time with me."

[Leo]

Leo frowned, and hugged her close to him. "Kathryn....why are you taking classes at the university?"

[Kathryn]

"Because I can't -- I can't live this life anymore. I don't want to be The Mayor's Daughter for the rest of my life. And I definitely don't want to be The Mayor's Wife. I wanna make my own life, pave my own way!" Kathryn definitely wouldn't have said this to him were she not filled with about ten glasses of champagne.

[Leo]

Leo held her face in his hands, gently caressing her cheeks. "Well what do you want to be?"
