Seeking Shelter

[Sammie]

"There's the Bronx," explained Sammie, figuring she'd get right to the point. "He's got some friends there -- one or two of 'em that he knew for years. He goes there whenever something's wrong. If not, he's around that neighborhood somewhere."

[Gypsy]

"That's not good enough. We need specifics. I'm not gonna send Jimmy on some wild goose chase around the Bronx."

[Sammie]

Sammie looked at her in frustration. Geez, this girl was antsy. "David Oswald," she finally said after a few moments. "They've been childhood friends and talking to each other for as long as I can remember... if Eastman was in trouble he'd be the first person he'd go to."

[Riddle]

Riddle nodded thoughtfully and then glanced at Gypsy. "There ain't necessarily any need to get Jimmy involved," she said, wondering even as she said it if she'd completely lost her mind.

[Gypsy]

Gypsy turned sharply to look at her, frowning. "What are you talkin' about? Of course Jimmy's gettin' involved, how else is this stupid plan gonna work?"

[Sammie]

Sammie looked at Riddle curiously. "What're you thinking of?" she asked, figuring the girl already had some plan formulating in her head.

[Riddle]

She remembered Magdalen Martin for a moment--the way Goblin had looked at her, the way he'd reacted when they sent her to Eastman--and she was almost sure. "I'm thinking Goblin's gonna go after him. And that maybe I'll help," she said casually, shrugging and looking at Gypsy again. "Youse two are having a kid, right? You oughta be getting ready for that, not hunting down gang leaders." You might as well leave that to the two people who started this whole mess. It was the first time in ages that Riddle had felt remotely noble.

[Gypsy]

Gypsy arched her brow at her, taken aback by her willingness to be selfless. That usually wasn't Riddle's style.

"Well, we'll let Jimmy decide that. I trust him to get the job done a helluva lot more than I trust you and Lover Boy to manage it."

[Sammie]

"What exactly is he going to do? Go barging in and kill Eastman while you two attempt to hide with a baby?" snapped Sammie, actually not minding Riddle's suggestion. The last thing she needed to deal with was a pregnant girl who was going with them to look for Eastman. She wasn't ready for the hormones or emotions just yet.

[jimmyconnelly]

Jimmy if course at that moment was walking into his apartment. "If there's one thing I'm good at its killing people but Gypsy ain't going anywhere."

[Gypsy]

Gypsy shot him a look. "Seriously? You're gonna make me stay home AGAIN?" She went over to him, pursing her lips in annoyance. But she leaned up and kissed him anyway.

[Riddle]

"Sure, and end up leaving her alone with a baby to raise." Riddle snorted and stood up as Jimmy came in. "Been a while," she said, nodding to him. They'd never exactly been close, and he was just another tangible reminder of all the terrible things she'd done. "Seriously, Connelly, let me handle this. Been a long time since I did anything for anyone but me, and I ain't got no one depending on me."

"You're gonna get yourself killed and then I'll have to go in and finish the job anyways." Jimmy said.

[Riddle]

She rolled her eyes. "You and Tristan Shamien need to get it through your heads that you ain't the only people who can get shit done." She crossed her arms and gave him a look. "Give it three days. If the job ain't done then, go ahead and do it." Might as well have a back-up plan anyway. Because he was right about one thing--there was every chance that whoever did this job wasn't coming back from it.

[Gypsy]

Gypsy frowned, thinking. "How you gonna get Goblin to let you help him anyway, Riddle? He hates you. Probably even more now, since Script dumped him over what happened."
