"So far," he assured her. Now, staying away from the seediest casinos was another question. Tristan would kill Race if he knew he'd been in the Points again. "So, you planning on staying at Duane Street much longer?" He smiled. "Not that it ain't great having you there, I just figured you'd be saving for a place of your own." Not asking about the Spot situation was harder than he'd expected.

"I'm working on it," she said with a sigh. "Honestly everything I can afford is kind of shitty." She shrugged. "But I know I'm overstaying my welcome."

"You ain't overstaying your welcome, Rae," he scoffed. "Kloppman's never even around anymore, and Jack's busy with that classy girl he's been seeing--he barely even knows you're there. And everyone else is happy to have you." He looked up hopefully at a sound from the kitchen, and lifted Sean up for a clear view. "Here that, Sean? You think our spaghetti's on the way?"

Sean's eyes went wide as saucers and he clapped his hands together. He opened his mouth and shrieked with excitement.
Raven laughed at the look on her son's face. Sometimes he made the entire world seem so much brighter.
Sophia arrive soon after that and set the large bowl of Spaghetti in the center of the table. She couldn't resist the baby's charm and leaned over to press a kiss to his cheek.
"Oooh Sean, this looks delicious!" Raven said with a huge smile.

"Grazie, Sophia!" Race told their favorite waitress, who just grinned smugly and flounced back to the kitchen. "Better dig in before I eat it all, Sean," Race told the baby with a smirk, and then helped him out by twirling some spaghetti on a fork, liberally covered in sauce, and guiding it slowly into Sean's mouth. He wished Denton would walk in with his fancy camera to capture this moment.

Sean's eyes widened and then he blinked. He started to chew and then a piece of pasta fell out of his mouth, he tongue flicked over his lips.
Raven smiled and reached over to wipe some sauce from his mouth, "I think he likes it."

"He better like it," Race chuckled, grabbing a napkin to dab sauce off Sean's mouth. He ate a mouthful of spaghetti himself, closing his eyes to enjoy it--hey, it had been a while--and then cut up some more to feed Sean.
There was something Race had to admit to himself at times like these. He wasn't, never had been, and never would be in love with Raven...but sometimes he honestly wished that Sean were his kid. Ah well, 'uncle' would have to be good enough.

((AWWWWW! RACE! *snuggles*))
Sean giggled then and grabbed some pasta right out of the plate and shoved it into his mouth. Raven burst out laughing.
"Oh God! Sean," She got up and pulled his fist out of his mouth, giggling the entire time. "Be patient, Uncle Race will feed you." Sean immediately grunted at her and pouted. She rolled her eyes.
"Everytime you do that you look like your father," She remarked. Then scooped some of the cut up pasta onto a fork and fed it to Sean.

Race had to chuckle at the mention of Spot. Sean really did have a few of the signature Conlon expressions. "So, speaking of his father," he said casually, shoveling spaghetti into his own mouth while Rae took over with Sean, "you seen him lately?"
Well, there was no way he was going to hold out for the entire meal without asking.

Raven by now had Sean pressed firmly onto her lap and was spooning him small pieces of pasta as fast as the kid could eat it.
"GAH!" Sean reached out and tried to grab the spoon and Raven defly pulled it away from him.
"Yeah I seen him." She chose not to elaborate. She wasn't going to explain that they had really been getting along lately, that maybe they'd been kissing. If she thought she was confused before, she was way more confused now.

He raised an eyebow at her. "Uh-huh." He took a sip of water and dug into his own spaghetti. If she wanted to talk to him about it, she would. Anyway, knowing Spot and Rae, it would be the next hot rumor before long. He'd just rather hear it from her first.

"We kissed," she revealed finally, "at that party," she finished after a long pause.

He stared at her for a long moment, then looked at Sean instead. "Oh. Well then." He'd heard about the ball but hadn't bothered to go--he knew he couldn't bring himself to dance with anyone except Rae, and when he'd heard Spot was going to be there...

Raven groaned, "I know! I know okay, I know that tone in your voice too," She pointed at him, "I'm a fucking idiot and Spot is a terrible person. He abandoned our baby, believe me I know that, but..." She felt like she wanted to pull her hair out. "I've been going on all these crazy dates, and Nate is really nice, we've kind of been seeing each other, but nobody is Spot. Nobody. He just...he...he makes me feel something no one else does." She sighed heavily, pouted and then shoved spaghetti into her mouth.
Sean stared at his mother with his mouth hanging open, red sauce dripping down his chin.

Race sighed and twirled spaghetti on his fork without actually eating it. It wasn't like he hadn't seen this coming. Things had always been this way with Spot and Rae, but Spot had never done anything this unforgivable before.
He understood holding onto a difficult relationship because it was still the best thing in your life. He and Sapphy hadn't exactly been smooth sailing, but he still missed her like hell, every moment of every day, so much that it physically hurt. Raven probably felt the same way about Spot. But, but, but...
He finally noticed Sean's expression and laughed out loud, grabbing a napkin to get him cleaned up. "I feel just the same way, kid." He looked at Rae and sighed again. "Do I still get to punch him?"
