Kennedy was supposed to be doing something... Something...? Hmm...
She looked up and found herself in the Manhattan Distribution Center. Oh! Was this it? ...Wait, what day was it again? Was it the weekend? It was early. The line to get the morning paper was moving forward rather efficiently. Yep, regular World stuff.
But selling papers was not what Kennedy set out to do this morning. Oh well, this was good enough.
Kennedy got in line, grinning. In many ways she preferred Manhattan over Brooklyn -- here, there seemed to always be a song in the air and everyone knew the lyrics to sing along.

Ershey sighed, rubbing her eyes as she got in line behind another newsie. It was way too early and definitely not time to sell papers just yet, but here she was getting in line to get her daily count of papers. Oh, being a newsie.
She yawned, stretching her arms, almost hitting the newsie in line in front of her. "Oops," whispered Ershey, hoping she hadn't noticed.

Kennedy turned her head back to the left, then the right. Then she turned around completely to look at Ershey -- She has a familiar face. Maybe?
"Oops for what?" she chirped.

Ershey took a step back, surprised that she had actually heard her. It was definitely way too early for this.
"Oh, uh... er, nothin'!" she grinned sheepishly. "I was just stretchin' and almost socked you from the back. Didn't do it on purpose, promise!"

"No apologies necessary. Even if you had decked me, you couldn't do much damage -- it's already done," Kennedy grinned, knocking on her temple with her knuckles.

"Well, that's good to know, I guess?" said Ershey, chuckling. "You new around here? I haven't seen your face around here at this time."

"Yes and no. I'm from Brooklyn. Just doing my thing down here today. My name's Kennedy." She offered her line-mate her hand.

"Ershey," she said, taking her hand and shaking it. "Or Ersh for short. Nice. Brooklyn? That's a good walk to get to here if you want to just sell papes! Itchin' for somethin' different?" Yup, that she could definitely relate to.

"Nah," Kennedy grinned; laughter was in her voice. "I came down to 'hattan for other reasons..." Whatever that may be. "But I still need to sell. Timing just worked out this way," she shrugged.

Coyote finished up at the distribution desk and turned around, a stack of fifty papes under his arm. Because he rarely slept at night, he was almost always the first one in line when the gates of The World opened at what most would consider an ungodly hour of the morning. He wasn't complaining; it made it easier for him to get in and out and start the day off nice and early.
As he crossed the yard, he noticed a pretty blonde girl he didn't know chatting it up with Ershey towards the back of the line. He grinned at them as he passed by, tipping his hat at the blonde. "Mornin', lassies!"

Kennedy curtsied, completely lighting up at the gesture. It happened everyday, but it never ceased to delight her. Her smile faded slightly when she saw the stack of papers in the boy's arms.
Sunday edition. Fuck. It was Sunday?! Fuck.

Ershey waved at Coyote. She knew his face from the lodging house but didn't know him too well. Before she could say another word, she suddenly noticed Kennedy's shocked face.
"Hey, you alright?" she asked with concern. "Oh, hey, the line moved too, by the way."

"What's his name?" she asked, pointing to the polite Scot.

"Coyote, I think?" muttered Ershey, turning around to take a look at the newsie that just by. "You know him? I've seen him around where I live."

Coyote glanced back at the two girls as he reached the gate that led out to the streets, wondering if he should turn around and talk to them a bit more. He wasn't usually one to linger in crowded places for too long; it felt stifling. Hanging around the distribution center with all the newsies milling about wasn't really his idea of a fun time. No, he thought as he pushed the gate open, he'd just go about his merry way and maybe he'd run into that blonde some other time.
Or, on second thought, maybe that time was now. He doubled back.
