Since Eli had gotten a real job at a construction company, he had quit being a newsie as quickly as he became one. The company had him running all over the city, painting and working on buildings, which Eli was actually enjoying. The company hired Luke too, who was currently looking for a new apartment for them on the main island.
Eli, meanwhile, had just finished up lunch with Zippy and when she went back to the bookstore, he hung around the lodging house waiting for Trixie.
It was time for her to hold up her end of the bargain- he was kidnapping her for an excellent day behind door number 2!

Trixie hadn't been doing so well as a Newsie. Sure, she sold her fair share, but the money wasn't near as good as it was at the dance hall, and she was starting to regret ever leaving.
Between that and the disappointing outcome of her one day with Eli (not to mention the debacle that was Nate), Trixie was not her usual chipper self as she approached the House, hugging her coat around her.

When Trixie walked in, Eli attacked her in a bear hug, swinging her around. "HEYA Trixie-Cat! Guess what, I'M KIDNAPPING YOU!"

Trixie yelped. "Jesus, Eli! You scared the crap outta me!"

He nuzzled her neck. "Don't try to protest! Don't even try to fight back!"

She smirked, arms moving around his middle. "Fine, fine, ya got me!"

Laughing, he kissed the top of her head and released her. "Damn right I got you." He looked at her for a moment before taking off his winter hat and placing it on her head. "You'll need that where we're going."

"And what'll you do without one?" She looked up at him. It occurred to her she'd missed seeing him.

He smirked at her. "You know me. If I want one, I'll get one." With a shrug, he took her hand and led her outside.

She linked fingers with him as they set off. "So where are we goin'?"

She blinked, arching a brow at him. "What does that even mean? And does it involve a ton of walkin'?"

"Not exactly...whats your defintion of 'a ton'?" He grinned at her, leading her down the road. "Frankly kiddo, you should just be happy I didn't blindfold you. I considered it."

She gave him an innocent look. "Then I oughta warn ya the the dance hall taught all us girls how to defend ourselves. I could break your nose three different ways if I wanted to."

"I believe that," Eli acknowledged, chuckling. "Which is obviously why I decided against it." They walked down the street and Eli swung their hands back and forth. "How've ya been Sugar Plum?"
