"Say you will take care of her. She reminded me of you. Very sweet." Leo told her, reaching to scratch the cat behind her ears. "I gave her a bath at the vet. Its why she is so happy. Only cat I've ever known to like water."

"I will take care of her," Lana promised quickly. No one had ever given her a cat before! She could hardly wait to get the little thing home. She looked down at the cat in her arms and carefully lifted up her hand to run it down the cat's back. "Does she have a name?"

Leo shook his head. "Nope. She's a stray, she has nobody. Name her whatever you want." He sighed, watching the cat cuddle in Lana's arms, warm and happy. "But once her paw gets better and she can walk, do not be upset if she runs away. She may not understand that you want to keep her."

"Then I must make her so happy that she does not want to leave," Lana reasoned with a smile. She slowly walked over to a nearby chair and sat down, letting the cat rest on her lap instead of in her arms. "Oh, kotenok, what should I name you?"
Smiling, she looked up at Leo again. "What does she look like to you?"

"something water related," Leo replied, going over and taking a seat next to her. "weirdest thing how much that kitty loved the water. Call her Starfish or something."

Lana laughed at his suggestion. She had never heard of a cat who liked water before! "Starfish... I think I like that," she agreed. She reached down and lightly rubbed the cat's stomach, her eyes widening when she heard it start to purr. "I think she will like it."

Leo smiled for a moment, then looked at Lana. "When are you off work?"

Lana thought for a moment, her hand still idly running over the cat's stomach. "At three, I think. What time do you have to be here to work?"

"At 8" Leo answered, reaching to pet Starfish again. The oddest cat ever. "We should get some dinner." he suggested casually.

"I would like that," Lana agreed just as casually. Was this really her life right now, petting a cat and making lunch plans with someone who, as far as she could tell, was an absolute sweetheart? She found herself caring less and less about how her brother was going to feel while caring more about how she felt about this whole thing. As far as she was concerned, this felt nothing but right. "We will have to bring Starfish home first, yes?"

"yes, probably." Leo nodded at her, standing up. "or I can pick up some food and meet you back at the LH. So we won't have to leave her."

"We could do that, yes," Lana agreed. "I would not want her to be afraid of such a big house all by herself."

Leo smiled at her. "What kind of deli sandwich would you like?"

Lana looked at him for a moment, thinking it over. "Turkey?" she asked with a smile. "I think turkey would be good." She looked down at Starfish, who was now curled up in a ball, asleep on her lap.

"got it." he took starfish off her lap, and held her close. "she'll be waiting for you after work," Leo told her with a grin.
