He kept her close to him as they walked as well. He didn't know what to say and he didn't know how to assure her he'd be fine. That's when he heard the footsteps behind him. He swallowed hard.
"Keep walking..." He whispered to Jacquie. "Don't turn around, but he's going to attack us."

Jacquie stiffened, her nails digging into his arm as she gripped him tightly. "Wh--who??" she whispered. "Sean...what did you do..?"

He shook his head and kept walking. When they reached the mouth of the alleyway he shoved Jacquie against the wall and then whirled on the guy behind him.
Sean ducked as he threw a punch and nailed the guy straight in the jaw. He grabbed his shirt and shoved him hard against the wall. "Tell your boss to leave me and my family ALONE!" He kneed him in the balls.

Jacquie pressed herself back against the wall as closely as she could, watching the exchange with big, terrified eyes. She whimpered, but didn't say anything.

When the guy collapsed to the floor Sean hurried over to her and grabbed her hand. "Come on." He moved as fast as he could to get her home, rushing through the crowd.
When they reached her hourse he kissed her quickly. "Get inside. I'll be home soon, your father's gonna fix it."

She grabbed him by the front of the shirt, kissing him desperately. "I love you, Sean. Come back to me. Do you hear me? Or I will kill you myself." She kissed him again.

"My ma says that to my dad all the time," He said with a smirk and then kissed her again. He stepped away from her and then turned to walk away.

"Sean--" She bit her lip, calling out to him before he could leave completely. "Sean...tell me--say you love me again?"

She smiled back at him, tears stinging her eyes. She blew him a kiss, then waited for him to leave before she went inside the apartment.
And burst into tears.
