"You can help me once we get back to Manhattan," said Risk reassuringly, walking beside them as they made their way towards the docks. "I also give you control over how you want to decorate this thing. Maybe we'll just have Jo throw stuff at it and we'll see what happens."

Macbeth gave the tree a dark look. "This thing? Needs more than the attention of a two-year-old." Her mouth set into a grim, determined line. "I'll figure something out." She didn't elaborate.
"Chaat," Jo went right on chanting, and would probably continue chanting for the rest of the day. "Chaat, chaat, chaat."
"In retrospect, it mighta been more useful to teach her in English..."

"At least she knows something," grinned Risk, actually quite proud of her. He ushered both of them on the ferry back to Manhattan, firmly holding on to the tree and making sure it wouldn't fall apart before they reached their apartment. ((Ugh. I'm obsessed with this musical I just found -- www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLf5wX_UHN8 ))

She set Jo down by the railing to look at the icebergs, then went to help Risk hold the tree up. And finally remembered to scowl again. ((Oh, Ershey. Do you know of my total obsession with musicals!? Well, yeah, you probably do. So you realize what you've just done by introducing me to a new one. ))

Risk smirked. "Frowning again?"
((Hahaha! I love it. But it's so sad... but so good at the same time. >< Let's obsess over it together <3))

"You ain't convinced me not to," Beth pointed out, leaving it up to him to interpret that. Meanwhile, she kept an eye on Jo to make sure she didn't tumble overboard. ((YES! *listening now*))

"I have some ideas when we get home," he teased. He did it mostly to embarrass her but was somewhat serious at the same time.
((Do you use Spotify? The whole cast recording is there!))

"Oh yeah?" she asked, calmly raising an eyebrow. "Really impressive ideas?" She leaned casually against the railing, and slowly, just as casually, trailed her fingers along the back of his neck. "Bet mine are better."
The thing about sixteen years of being single but romantically inclined was that you thought about what you'd do with your mystery lover if you ever got a chance.
And she'd thought about it.
A lot.
((Alas, I don't! Yet, anyway. But I'll totally hunt them down.))

((LOL. I love Macbeth <3))
Risk looked over at her in surprise, almost letting go of the tree. He cleared his throat. "Are you sure?"

((Me too. ;D))
"Sure about what?" Beth smirked at him. "You ain't even heard my ideas yet." She almost wished he had dropped the tree. And there were certainly a few ways she could make it happen...it was then that she noticed Jo watching them from the railing, sucking her thumb. "And they all have to do with ponies and cotton candy," she said pointedly, removing her hand from his neck with great reluctance. She'd been right on the verge of getting in on this whole holiday-spirit thing. (Though she had a vague feeling she was doing it wrong.)

"And castles and princesses," smiled Risk, actually quite glad for the distraction. Macbeth always threw him off guard when she pulled things like that and he never really knew how to react.

Jo looked up at him and frowned. "Wabbit?"
"Yeah, kiddo," Beth confirmed, ruffling her hair. "So many rabbits. It's tilting," she added to Risk, somehow managing not to snicker.

Risk shot Macbeth a look as he held onto the tree. "Hey, hey, don't complain when you're not the one holding it!"
((Last one for tonight! Gnight! <3))

(('Night! <3))
Macbeth chuckled, but took hold of the other end of the tree, and generously refrained from brushing her fingers against his when she did it. "Happy?"

Risk grinned brightly. "Thanks, Beth."
