Rose was walking along the fairly empty street, on her way to her shift at Irving Hall. Life was pretty good right now, she thought. She and Tyler were pretty much perfect. Her job was going well. And she hadn't heard from or seen her father in a couple months. What could be better?
As she turned the corner, however, she was suddenly grabbed from behind. Her mouth was covered so no one would hear her scream. And the thing covering her mouth turned out to be a handkerchief soaked in ether. It wasn't too long before Rose was knocked out completely.

Moonshine was whistling when he arrived at Irving Hall, ready to pick Rose up after her shift as always. He glanced around, confused as to why she wasn't behind the bar, or somewhere around the room wiping down a table or something. He approached Charlie at the bar.
"Heya, Charlie. Where's Rose?"
Charlie shrugged. "Didn't show. Figured she'd be with you."
Didn't show? Tyler frowned. Why wouldn't she show. He walked out of the Hall, his insides twisting the more he thought about what might have happened to her. He knew she wasn't at the House, he'd just come from there. There was only one other place. He practically ran to her grandmother's house, banging on the door.

Rose's grandmother, Vera ((can't remember if I've named her, so there it is)), answered the door. She was almost in tears. "There you are," she said, sounding relieved. "Come in, come in. Get out of this cold."

Tyler blinked at her, confused, and worried now. "What's goin' on? Where's Rose? Why were you expectin' me?" All his questions came out in a loud rush.

There were a couple policemen already there, talking in hushed tones in the kitchen. Vera looked at Tyler with a somewhat pained expression. There was definitely something she didn't want to tell him.

Tyler's face darkened, and his mouth set in a very thin line. "Where is she."

"I--I don't know where she is, but...I think I know...who she's with..." she replied, clutching her handkerchief. She barely knew this young man. Actually she hadn't ever met him properly. But she knew there was at least one person he would probably kill if he had the chance.

Tyler's fists clenched at his sides, and he had to take a few very deep breaths to keep himself from punching a hole in the wall. "Where would he take her?"

She shrugged her bony shoulders, a fat tear trickling down her weathered cheek. She may not have been great about showing affection for her granddaughter, but that didn't mean she didn't care about her.
"I don't know. He told me he just wanted to see her, to talk to her. Probably try to convince her to go back to Atlanta..." Before she could say anything else, a third policeman walked in the door, stomping his boots on the stoop to get the snow off.
"Ma,am," he began. "We found this on the sidewalk by your granddaughter's place of employment. Does it belong to her?" He held out one of the gloves that she'd given to Rose for her birthday not two weeks ago.

Before even thinking, Tyler growled out. "He took her. That fuckin' bastard took her. Ya need to find him!"

Vera just nodded, affirming to the policeman that it was Rose's glove. He handed it to her then went to join his comrades in the kitchen.
When he was out of earshot, Vera turned to Tyler, placing a firm hand on his forearm. "Now, young man, you've got to keep your wits about you. We won't get anywhere with you growling and thinking about nothing but how you're going to kill my son-in-law when you find him. Which we will. We just need to...think..."

Tyler shook his head. "She's been gone hours. They're probably on a train halfway to Atlanta by now. What am I supposed to do?!"

Vera perked up. "I think you're right... What else would he do with her? He wants her to go home, and the only way Rose would ever go back there would be if she had no choice." She hurried to a small table in the foyer, grabbing her handbag.
"Gentlemen," she called out to the policemen. "We're going to need a ride to Grand Central Station, if you please."
((Gotta drive home!))

((Drive careful!))
Tyler blinked at the older woman. "Yer...yer not seriously comin' with me?"

She pursed her lips at him. "Well, of course I am. You don't know Charles like I do," she pointed out. ((I DO remember that I named her father William, but I'm changing it)).
The policemen escorted them out to their carriage, Vera clutching her purse anxiously.
