"I have no idea why you are scoldin' me! I'm here!" Eli shot her a defensive stare. He could be gone. So easily. His father did it.
And so could he.....and here was Trixie, scolding him for working long hours.

She winced at the way he snapped at her, staring at him. "I--Eli..." She swallowed, putting his plate on the table. "I'm going to bed."

She sighed and shook her head, sitting at the table to eat because she was hungry, and she knew she couldn't skip meals with the baby.

"I wanna make sure I can provide for my family, Sweets. You know that. So yeah, with the baby on the way there will be some added pressure to rake some more dough in." Eli soothed, reaching at the table to grasp her hand. "You and Duncan are my world. I can't fail you."
((I keep trying to think of a nickname that Eli would call duncan but nothing is coming to me! Except for Donut. And Eli wouldn't come up with that himself lolol))

That melted her heart and she squeezed his hand, tears stinging the corners of her eyes. "I know, baby. Eli, your never gonna fail us. Not ever. But ya can't leave us on our own just 'cause you're tryin' to make money. It gets so lonely. I want our babies to know you the way I do."
