Chris lifted one shoulder in a half-hearted shrug. "Nah, don't worry about it. All dads are the same," he told her, sitting back down on her bed and eating one of the sandwiches in two bites.

She laughed, giving him an appreciative smile. "Come on. We better get that vocab done or else Daddy's gonna come back in here." She moved to sit beside him on her bed.

She grinned, kicking her shoes off and making herself comfortable, laying on her stomach beside him. "I'll try to make it fun, I swear."

She sent him a charmer of a smile, then one her mom used on her dad when she was trying to get her way. "You'll see."

He blinked, staring. She had never smiled at him like that before. And it caused this annoying fluttering in his stomach. Chris suddenly cleared his throat and tore his gaze away from her. "Well, then, let's get cracking," he said.

She grinned and they set to work. Studying with Chris proved to be a lot of fun. They talked and joked, still managing to get work down. Every so often, Lori would flash him a charming smile and flirtatious eyes.

Chris tried his best to ignore those charming smiles. She smiled like that at everyone, he was sure. When they were done, he stood up, stretching.
"See? That wasn't so bad, was it?"
