"MEL! YOU ARE TAKING FOREVER! CAN'T YOU USE YOUR OWN BATHROOM?" Mason wailed, banging on the bathroom door.
"You have a full length mirror in yours!" Melody called out. "JUST HOLD ON!"
It was early in the morning, and it had become a new thing in the Green household for Melody to be so irritable in the mornings before school.
From the kitchen, Erin was making french toast as their maid, Loretta, was sweeping the floor around David's feet. Dave was sitting at the kitchen table, drinking coffee.
"Are they fighting again?" Erin asked David, annoyed, as Daniel came into the kitchen, kissing his mother good morning as she handed him a plate of french toast and a glass of milk.
---
Eli kneeled over, scratching his head as he examined his youngest daughter, 7 year old Deena's knot in her hair. "I don't know, babygirl. I have no idea how to fix that. Where's Mommy?"
"Mommy is sewing up a hole in Marcie's dress," Deena explained, near tears over the mess that was her bedhead.
Eli smiled at her, kissing her face. "Don't be sad. Go see if Lori or Poppy can help you."
"But Daddy I want YOU to help me!" Deena insisted, wrapping her arms around him. Eli sighed, picking her up.
"I've got 3 daughters. One of them is bound to be able to help you," he muttered to her, knocking on Lori's door.

David snorted. "They're always fighting. We were not this obnoxious as teenagers, were we?"
--
Lori opened the door, her hair loose down her back. "Hi, Daddy!"

Erin gave him a look. "Can you please go see whats going on? I don't understand what they could possibly be fighting about this early in the morning."
Eli grinned at Lori and held Deena out in front of him. "I don't do hair."

David grumbled, but did as he was told. "Mason! Melody! What exactly is the issue?"
Lori rolled her eyes, but took Deena into her room, brushing her hair and doing it in the braids she liked. "Come on, school time!"

Mason looked at his dad. "She's in my bathroom! My glasses are in there and I wanted to read ahead a few chapters before school..."
Melody opened up the door, rolling her eyes. "The bathroom is yours. I was just fixing my hair. Mornin' Daddy." She kissed her dad.
--
Eli handed Marcie, Poppy, Deena and Lori their lunches. "Where's Duncan? And your mother?"

David sighed. "You used to be so sweet, Melody. What happened?"
--
Trixie came out of her bedroom, slipping on her shoes. "I'm here. I'm late for rehearsal."
Lori took her lunch. "Duncan already left for work Daddy, they switched his shift, remember?"

She began to tear up, giving her father a horrified look. "I'm not sweet anymore?!" She ran down the hallway, slamming her door.
--
"Right right. Guess I'm getting old." He smiled at Trixie, giving her a kiss. "Mornin', Kitten."

David pinched the bridge of his nose. "Jesus Christ. ERIN!" He called down the stairs. "Your daughter's being crazy again!"
--
Trixie giggled, kissing him back, and all the girls gagged accordingly. "Oh, stop it. How d'ya think we ended up with so many of you, anyway?"
Lori made a face. "Ew, mom!" She hustled the girls to the door. "Come on, let's cheese it before they start groping."

Erin gave Mason, who finally joined his brother at the table, his allergy medicine. She sighed, and glanced at Daniel. "Finish your homework." And then went up the stairs.
"What happened?" She asked David, meeting up outside of Melody's door.
--
Eli roared with laughter, and kissed each of his girls goodbye. "There's too many women in this house." He smiled as Marcie took Deena's hand and walked down the hall. He grabbed Lori before she left.
"Aren't you turning 16 in a few days? Or was that another kid who is taking all my money and throwing a birthday party next weekend?"

"I don't know! She was being pissy again, and I made a crack about how she used to be so sweet and then....tears." He through his hands up in exasperation.
--
Lori grinned at him. "You must be thinkin' about somebody else. Because all the money I spent has been well worth it and for necessities only."

Erin smiled. "She's been waking up early to make sure she's looks good for school. I think she likes a boy." She knocked on Melody's door.
"Mel. It's me. Go eat french toast."
Melody opened up the door, glaring at David. "How could you say that, Dad!"
--
"Oh right. Makes sense." Eli nodded, and kissed Lori goodbye. "Tell Melody I say hello."

David put his hands up in defeat. "I'm sorry, sweetheart. It was just a joke."
--
Lori made a face. "Ugh, The Princess."

"Really? You still think I'm sweet?" She asked him. Erin rolled her eyes, and went to go send the boys off to school.
--
Eli blinked at her. "The Princess?" He didn't get it.

David felt trapped. "I....love you?"
--
Lori smirked. "Mel. She's The Princess. Spoiled brat."

Mel huffed and stormed down the stairs, sitting down to eat while waiting to meet Lori.
Eli smiled. "Yes. This is true. But I never heard you say that about her."
