"Clearly we did not get drunk enough," Race said. "We should be singing right about now." He tried to get up and sat down again as the world swayed. Okay, maybe they were drunk enough.

"Get up!" Jack said. "We gotta get to the D.O...well I do cause I'm broke. I took Stagey on the worst date ever and spent all my money." Jack said and managed to hoist himself to his feet.

"You can borrow some if you need to. Then you'll owe me for like three years again," Race said, smirking and pulling himself up with the aid of a nearby lamp-post. "'S'all right...we're gonna make it...which way again?"

"Over the bridge...all the way over the bridge...." Jack stared at it sadly. It was so far...so very very far away.

Race followed his gaze doubtfully. "Can't we steal a horse and ride across?"

"Where we stealing the horse from?" Sheepshead's that way" He pointed all the way toward the ocean.

"There are other horses in the city, Jack! Look, they've got a horse!" He pointed at a passing carriage. "Maybe we should yell and wave at them."

"Or just hop on the back, COME ON." Jack grabbed Race by the arm and started drunkenly running for the carriage. He swerved back and forth with Race stumbling beside him.

Race tried his best to run too, though it was kind of difficult to decide which carriage to run for--sometimes there only seemed to be one, and sometimes there were two or three. But Jack seemed to have one picked out, so Race made a grab for the back, then another, then finally hoisted himself up and beckoned frantically to Jack.

Jack hurried behind the...two carriages? No there was definitely one and picked up the pace, soon he wouldn't be able to leap. Anyway, he made a choice and he jumped and slammed right into the back of the carriage. Jack grabbed on and let out the breath he was holding.

Race grinned and let out a holler of triumph at their success. Luckily, the pounding hoofbeats and clattering carriage wheels drowned him out. They were headed straight for the bridge, and he could only hope he wouldn't pass out before they got there. He could feel his head getting heavy, his hands getting weak and clumsy...

Jack kicked him. "Wake up! We're almost there!" Jack wasn't feeling so good by this point. He knew once they got home he was definitely gonna puke.

Race shook himself and realized that they'd crossed the bridge and were indeed clattering en route to Duane Street. For now, anyway. "When should we get off? We can't exactly ask the driver where he's going."

"A few more blocks," Jack waited for as long as he could and then he shoved Racetrack off the carriage. He leapt off as well and landed in the dirt street.

Race landed in a heap and didn't want to get up, ever. His head was spinning, and even though he was still drunk, he could already feel the beginnings of a hangover.
"Do we really, really have to sell today?" he muttered, getting up and staggering down the street toward the lodging house. "Can't we just...go to bed and...have tea?"
