Despite Risk's urge to listen in on Macbeth and Tristan's conversation, Risk knew it wouldn't exactly be a good idea with the already wailing Jo in his hands. He immediately made his way towards the girls' bunkroom (which was thankfully empty) and sat on Macbeth's bed, setting Jo down and making goofy faces in hopes to make her smile again.

Macbeth found Risk and Jo in the bunkroom and immediately sank down on her bed beside him, letting out a ragged sigh and gathering Jo into her arms. Jo whimpered at first, then settled down and relaxed against her chest. She'd probably be asleep in moments. Beth closed her eyes, too, but more because her nerves were stretched to the breaking point. Her arms, wrapped around her niece, were actually shaking.

"How'd it go?" asked Risk carefully, not quite sure whether he should even ask. He quietly sat on her bed, patiently waiting for her response.

"Could've been worse," she said once she trusted herself to speak. She opened her eyes and stared into space, holding Jo just a little bit tighter, but not tight enough to wake her. "I'm sorry I got you into this."

Risk shrugged. "He was already threatening me before, so now he just has more reason to not like me," he replied casually. "Nothing I haven't dealt with before."

"Yeah, well, I'm used to being threatened on a daily basis too," she said softly. "It's her being in the middle of it I can't stand." She looked down at the baby asleep in her lap and pressed one hand over her eyes because there were actually tears in them, and she was not, goddamn it, going to cry.
"He gave me money," she said eventually, moving her hand away. Her voice was a little hoarse, but her eyes were completely dry. "Said he'd send more. So it don't sound like he's gonna be storming in here, trying to take her away...unless it's a trick, or he changes his mind..." She shook her head and looked at Risk almost desperately, like he might somehow have the answers.

"Tristan comes off tough," he started, wanting nothing more than to have Macbeth forget about her worries even for a little while. He noticed her change in behavior, torn as to whether he should hug her for comfort. "But I don't think he'd go after her like that. He's protective, that's all. It makes sense why he'd threaten me since he was covering for Wraith and her brother."

"Yeah? Well, I can be fucking protective too." She looked down at the little girl in her arms, and her face took on a steely expression. "He wants to send money, fine. He can come see her, play with her, I don't care. He just ain't taking her away from me." She sighed. "We should get her down to the sick room, and grab the food and stuff." Not that she felt like moving, ever again.

"I know. And she's not going anywhere, especially when you've got the Williams siblings around!" he teased, hoping to get a smile. "Everyone will fall in love with her and they'll make sure she's happy, Macbeth. I'm sure." He sighed and fell down on the bed next to Macbeth. "Let's not move for five minutes?"

Macbeth stared at him as if he'd gone insane. "Well, ain't you a bubbling font of optimism all of a sudden." At his suggestion, however, she let out a long sigh of relief, flopping down beside him with Jo asleep on her stomach. "That's the brightest bloody idea I've heard all week."

He shrugged. "Adri's rubbing off on me." Risk couldn't help but grin when he heard her second comment. "'Sides, it's comfy here, anyway.... I just hope no one takes the food."

"Oh, I'd like to see 'em try," Macbeth said with a terrifying little chuckle. She had a really strong urge to hit someone right now.
After they'd lain there in silence for a while, and she was just starting to relax, she looked over at Risk, then up at the ceiling. "You think that was bad, with me and Tristan? You and me were that bad. We was ready to kill each other up on the roof, what--a couple weeks ago?" And now they were resting in bed together with a baby between them and a solid alliance. "Risk, what the hell is my life?"
((Hehe))

((Hehe, they're cute ) "Crazy," he laughed, closing his eyes. "It's never boring, that's for sure. But yeah deal with it well enough than anyone else I know."
