The Letter -- open!

[Fae]

She reached across the table and put her hands over one of his before offering him a small smiles, "Sorry... I didn' mean ta ...."

[Pie]

Pie turned his hand over and gave her fingers a soft squeeze. " I know, I'm just... I'm at my wit's end, you know? How am I supposed to help him?"

[Fae]

She nodded and held his hand, it was-- strange but she didn't seem to mind. "Can't help 'im if he dosen' think there is a problem. He'll keep gettin' inta trouble an draggin' ya through it. Because he knows you'll come for 'im. Too much honor not too.."

[Pie]

Pie was also finding the sensation of holding Fae's hand a little odd -- not unpleasant, merely unusual. He couldn't even remember the last time he'd held a girl's hand. "I can't just let him get hurt, though. Not if I could stop it from happening."

[Fae]

And there was the kicker there, how do you stop someone who just doesn't know when to stop. "He's gonna get hurt bad next time, dunno what we can do to stop him.." For Fae she'd never really held anyone's hand for more then to drag them somewhere, it wasn't unusual for her to do it-- but this felt different. "Why does he always ask you?"

[Pie]

"Marcus is married with a kid, and Leon still lives at home and works in the shop with Pa. I'm the only one who wouldn't tell Ma and Pa about his trouble making, and I'm the only one free to help him out." Pie frowned.

[Fae]

"But ya ain't free, no more Niko, not to get hurt because a him.." She didn't like the idea, sure the day started out differently but she had a different idea now. "... you should tell yer folks. Your Da might wanna know.."

[Pie]

"Why tell 'em? It'd only break Ma's heart, and Pa's too old to bail Cosmo out. I just don't think it would do any good." He sighed and turned her hand over in his again, lining up their fingers so he could see how small hers were in comparison.

[Fae]

She watched him, watched their hands it was a bit like a game... a surreal game anyway. "What happens if somethin' happens ta you because of it, Niko?" That actually.. worried her just a bit. Sure he was big, but guns didn't discriminate.

[Pie]

"I'll manage, somehow," he said with a frown. Truthfully, though, sometimes he did wonder if his idiot brother was going to end up getting him killed one day. "Don't worry about me."

[Fae]

"Too late fer that," she replied honestly. Her eyes lifting to his face and she offered him a smile, optimist she may have been, with her head in the clouds, she knew that there were worst things. But she was a realist too... and having a vivid imagination didn't always make things better.

[Pie]

Pie looked up at that and met her eyes, a little surprised. Frankly, other than his mother, he was pretty certain no one worried about him, even when they needed to. He reached forward again and tugged on her hat brim once more, though the smile he gave her was warm. "Thanks for that, then."

[Fae]

"Why ya keep doin that?" she asked with a small chuckle, adjusting her hat back and looked at him. The warm smile, made her feel-- something, it made her smile herself. "I worry.. so be careful then."

[Pie]

He nodded. "I'll be careful. Maybe I'll even get lucky, and Cosmo will stop bein' an idiot."

[Fae]

She snorted a bit in disbelief, shaking her head with a small smile. "Aye, maybe ya will.. can only hope." But she knew that people like his brother who didn't take anything seriously tended to get into more trouble than not.
