Reluctantly, Birdie finally pulled back enough to look up at him, her arms still looped around his neck. Her lips felt a little bruised, but she smiled up at him warmly.

Jack gently stroked her cheek with his thumb smiling down at her, "I couldn't wait to do that...to kiss you."

"Really?" she asked shyly, smiling a little more. "I've been thinking about kissing you for days now."

"Well, we know now," she said brightly, grinning. Tonight was certainly shaping out to be an interesting evening -- first getting mugged in an alley, and now kissing the boy of her dreams in the kitchen.

Jack smiled, he couldn't help it. All he wanted to do was smile around her. Jack kissed her lightly again.

Birdie gave a happy sigh as she tilted up to kiss him back. This was a lovely feeling -- she most definitely should have kissed him earlier than tonight.

When they were through kissing Jack rested his forehead against hers for a moment and then lifted his head, "Come on...we should probably get to bed or something." He took her hand in his.

She nodded with a sweet smile, though she knew in the back of her mind there would be no hope for sleep tonight -- with all the events of the day, she was doomed to spend the whole night tossing and turning. "I suppose it is getting late," she said as she curled her fingers through his.

"it is," he said as he curled her fingers in his and they walked to the bunk room. "or we could sit up in the attic?"

On their way to the attic Jack grabbed blankets and pillows. Once up there he set one blanket down on the floor. He motioned for her to have a seat.

With a laugh, Birdie tugged off her shoes and went over to the blanket, taking a seat on it and grinning up at him.

Jack untied his own shoes and slipped them off. He sat down on the blanket beside her. "see? Perfect huh?"

"We should leave these blankets up here, that way I won't even have to leave the attic, except to go to work," she answered with a smile, wrinkling her nose.
