Monday's idea of laying low was, of course, going to the races. You could barely find somebody you intended to meet, so avoiding somebody you didn't was simple. He could sit on one of the benches, smoke a cigarette, and watch the races for as long as he wanted.
It gave him the opportunity to think, and there was certainly a lot to think about.

((Aaaaaah Risk is back!))
Risk needed a break. He finished work early but instead of going straight home, he figured he'd take some time to himself and head off towards the races. No harm in betting just a bit, right? Placing his money on a random horse (that he hoped was lucky), he headed off towards the stands and took a seat, letting out a sigh of relief now that he can finally relax.

((Eeee! And our avatars can have broody stare-offs!))
Monday watched as people milled about in the stands between races, but he caught sight of a familiar face in the crowd. Jesus, was that Risk? Nobody'd seen him in ages. Leaning forward with his arms on his knees, Monday watched him settle in before he got up and took a seat behind him.

((Yay!!))
Risk was so engrossed in what was going on in front of him that he didn't even notice the person sitting next to him. He cheered when the announcer shouted that the races were about to start. It was only then that he glanced next to him and saw Monday, causing him to almost jump out of his seat.
"The fuck!" he muttered, his eyes wide as he looked at his familiar friend. "Where'd you come from?!"

Monday smirked and crossed his arms over his chest. Risk was pretty good at sneaking around himself, but Monday was the master. "You didn't hear? The boss has us scopin' out Brooklyn these days." He looked around as the crowd began to take their seats. "Didn't expect to see you around here, though."

"Right, well, just wanted to relax," he answered, quirking an eyebrow at him as he settled back down in his chair. "So... you're still working? Doing all that stuff?"

"Kinda wish I wasn't," Monday admitted as he pulled out his pack of cigarettes and offered one over to Risk. "Never thought I'd say that."

Risk gladly took the cigarette and let him light it up before taking a drag. "Maybe it's about time you get into something else, y'know? I'm just glad I outgrew that early enough... I guess. Then again, now I'm getting paid to sneak around," he smirked.

"Boss pays better than anybody else around," Monday shrugged as he tucked the cigarette into his mouth. "But I have to deal with more shit than it's worth, sometimes." Which was putting it lightly -- right now he was facing not just his own neck on the line, but Piper's, too, and all because some damn Brooklyn newsie out-maneuvered them.

"What're you workin' on now, then? Sounds like you've got a lot goin' on if you're yammering about shit," he said knowingly.

"Let's just say I screwed something up, and if Priest finds out about it, he'll have me soaked for sure." Monday sighed and propped his feet up on the bench in front of them. "And of course his girl is involved. It's a fuckin' mess."

"His girl?" he repeated, shaking his head. "Good luck to you, Monday."

Monday gave a weak chuckle and nodded, waving over one of the hawkers to buy two beers. "Where've you been these days, Risk? Haven't seen you around much."

"Got sent over at Manhattan to work on a case," he answered. "And things turned upside down... well, for good, y'know? I found my younger sister... and met someone, I guess. Things have been good." He smiled widely, glad at how far he'd come.

"Glad somebody got out of this mess for the better," he said as he passed over one of the beers and took a swig from his own.
