Piper looked at him flabbergasted. "If you want to help me, help me get out of the city."

Monday frowned at her and sat back in his chair. "Do you have any money? Do you know where you'll go?" Maybe it was best if she did leave town -- if he went through with what he was considering doing, it'd be better if she weren't around.

"I have money. Thinking about heading west," Piper reasoned. "not much money though. Priest doesn't give me much."

Slowly he nodded. "It's probably good that you get out of town soon," he said.
There wasn't any reason to trust her, of course, she could be tricking him like she did with every other man in town. But, stupidly, he wanted to offer her some comfort, even if it meant putting his neck out. "Things might be going bad soon. For Priest."

Piper shook her head. "No. I don't think that. He has too much power."

"Well, either he's going or I am," he said blandly as he poured himself a glass of wine and drank nearly half of it in one gulp. "I can't do this any more."

Piper gaped at him, taken aback again. "Wait...what?" she thought Monday was priest's most loyal! Surely he would eventually take over....

He looked up at her -- if the situation wasn't so shitty, he'd probably have to laugh at her expression. "Nothin'. Nevermind." He took another healthy-sized drink and set the glass down. "Anyway, what are you doing here? You should have left town the minute you decided to do it."

"I wanted to give you my list..." she said, giving him a curious look. "Connelly wants me to get info out of a Blackjack to repay our debt."

"Blackjack?" He looked down at the list again. "Connelly must be a busy kid, if he's mixed up with Priest and Blackjack." Draining the last of his wine, he got to his feet and moved over to a cabinet, pulling out an old cigar box.

Piper shook her head. "Damned if I do, damned if I don't."

"All the more reason to get out of town," he said as he opened the cigar box. He pulled out a stack of cash and passed it over to her, lifting an eyebrow. "That should get you wherever you need to go."

She looked at him, surprised yet again. "It ain't your job to bail me out, Monday," she said softly, glancing at him. She honestly didn't know what to say...he had been the only person to offer her an out, offer her any sort of help...ever.
"Sit down and talk to me for a second."

"I'm not bailin' you out," he said shortly as he sat down in the chair across from her. "I'm about to do something stupid, and the fewer people around to worry about, the better off I'll be."

"What are you doing?" She asked him, suddenly concerned. But she had no idea why. Why did she suddenly give a fuck what this guy did or didnt do?
