Raven lay on the roof of the lodging house, staring up at the stars, ankles crossed. There was a cool breeze and she took deep breaths. She couldn't sleep. How could anybody sleep with the threat hanging over them? She didn't know.
She closed her eyes, but even then there was no relief. Her brother's name was everywhere these days, Spot was always talking about him, Tristan...Jack, Race...everyone. She wanted them all to forget him, she wanted to forget him, but she couldn't.
He was her brother and when she closed her eyes she saw his deep green ones staring back at her, she remembered the sting on her face, "Listen! You never listen!" His booming voice yelled. She opened her eyes quickly.
At least she could stare at the stars all night...

Nevada didn't know what she wanted or needed. All she knew was that she had gotten herself hooked on a fella. Apparently it's hard to sleep with someone over and over and not care about them-not develop some sort of feelings.
Nevada sighed heavily and sat down, running a hand through her hair. She jumped as she realized Rae was out there.
'Rae?' she called.

"Ah!" Raven screamed and sat up. "Oh fuck, jesus!" Raven's hands were clutching her chest. "What're you doin up here?"
Not like she was sleeping, nope, not even close.

'I just....I couldn't sit still or sleep.' Nevada stuttered out after she got over Rae's loud reaction. 'needed fresh air and a place to clear my head. What are you doing up here?'

"Can't sleep either." She sighed heavily and scooted over so Nevada could join her. "Alright, siddown..." Raven yawned and rubbed her eyes.

Raven started laughing. She picked up her pack of cigarettes from the ground and lit one. She offered one to Nevada. Raven took a nice long drag and let the smoke out slowly.
"My brother...since all this shit started I can't sleep cause he's there in my head, fucking with me."

Nevada took the cigarette and lit it. 'now, I don't normally pry, but I really have no clue what's happened with your brother,' Nevada admitted, 'I'm really not one to dig around in peoples personal business.'

Nevada let out a long sigh, 'well after that admission my shit doesn't even compare.' she said with a chuckle, 'I just---I don't usually do relationships but this whatever it is with Tristan has got me thinking. And I just aint used to it.' Nevada leaned back and clunked her head against the wall, 'i just--I like him so much.'
