Raven looped her arms around Spot's neck and took a look at his cards. Her face didn't betray a thing, her dark eyes stone cold. She lifted his cigarette from the ashtray and took a drag.
Raven whispered the closest thing to silence she could muster, "Ditch the three and ten."

Sapphy had just arrived to Irving Hall on her own, walking over to the game. She was excited when she heard about the party -- she'd been very busy the last few days and really wanted to see everyone... Stagey, Ershey, Tag, Leo, Zip, maybe even the mysterious Raven would be here! She said she was a Brooklyn newsie, right?
She'd be surprised to see her, she didn't even mention she was a newsie too, now that Sapphy thought about it.
...And Race, of course. She actually hadn't seen him around for two days. Where was that boy?
Sapphy owned three outfits in a tiny trunk shoved under her bunk. Two were actually clothes that belonged to her younger, but bigger brother -- she used those everyday to sell. The third had always been her's: a long, black skirt. It was actually one of the last things she bought before she had to leave her family's apartment. She hadn't a real chance to wear it yet. Pair that with a white button-down tucked into her skirt band, and she felt the cleanest that she ever had in months.

Blink sat at the table, looking quietly at his hand. Blink was a horrible poker player, though. When he had a good hand, he suddenly stopped talking. It was such an obvious tell.
He glanced at Raven and Spot, trying to read them.

Kennedy entered after Sapphy and it was quite the contrast. Kennedy's version of dressing up was to take a bath, do laundry -- wear what she wore everyday -- and put a couple of flowers in her messy hair.
She had a little guitar strapped to her back as she entered, wandering around aimlessly. She loved Irving Hall -- there was always so much to look at and notice. Kennedy set herself up at the base of the stairs. She didn't have the attention span to play poker, let alone watch it.
But this was her third year in a row at the game. Can't break tradition.

Ershey rushed over to Irving Hall the minute she was let off work at Tibby's. She told Mush she would meet him here for moral support. Secretly, she'd wanted to play but the boys and their egos wouldn't have been able to handle it.
Probably the least dressed out of everyone, Ershey walked over to the group of newsies that she saw, waving both at Sapphy and Kennedy once she saw them. She peeked over at Blink's hand, hoping he was keeping his cool. Her face would've normally given it away but she made sure not to react, since she wanted the Manhattan boys to do win.

Raven squinted when she noticed the familiar red head and then smiled at her, giving her a little wave. She kissed Spot's cheek, "I'm gonna get a drink." She gave his shoulder a squeeze and walked over to the girls.
"You'd think he was playing against Racetrack with the look on his face," Raven said and then ordered herself a scotch.

Sapphy's head immediately went, Who playing against Race? She glanced over to see Kid with the most serious look on his face -- she stifled a laugh.
"Hiya Rae," she greeted, touching her arm in friendly greeting. "You know Race?"

Nevada had never been to any of the poker games before and the minute she walked inside she realized she was regretting it. She just didn't DO people. She wasn't shy-just kept to herself. Maybe she could find a nice corner to disappear and get drunk. She ordered a drink at the bar and found the first corner she could and sat.

Money wasn't an issue anymore for Spot, for obvious reasons. He wasn't playing poker to win big, or even to socialize. He was here because it would be suspicious if he wasn't, and, well, Raven really wanted to go.
Plus Bronx would probably show up.
Spot nodded to Freddy as he watched Raven walk away, making sure he knew to stay on her at all costs. What could go wrong with half his boys here? Even Spot would admit probably nothing. It would be crazy for Hunter or Sammy to start something now, for the bulls would definitely show up and soak everyone if they did.
Right?

"Course I know Race!" Raven said with a huge smile,"we been friends for years." She took a sip of her scotch and sighed, "that's the good stuff."
"For everybody else, I'm Raven," she waved. She love the poker game, and was in a good mood.

Tristan managed to squeeze his way into the packed Irving Hall. Why was he always late for everything? Oh right because once again him and Nancy were fighting. Anyway, he was going to stop and get himself a nice cold beer and then settle in to join the game.
Tristan made his way to the bar and ordered himself a beer.

The whole getting drunk in a corner idea was working for her amazingly. She sat watching people, the way they interacted and wondering why the hell she wasn't interested in 'people'. Part of her wished she could go up to people and start conversation the other part reminded her it was more sensible not to get to know others.

Tristan leaned against the bar, "I see you over there," He grabbed his beer. "Now come cheer me on while I whip Spot's ass in poker." He held out his hand to Nevada.

Nevada gave Tristan a small smile as she put her hand in his, 'to think I thought I was good at being invisible,' she said before kissing his cheek lightly. 'when you beat his ass a poker I fully expect you to buy me a drink,' she joked as they walked towards the table.

"I will buy you more than a drink. I might take you to dinner." He whispered in her ear and kissed a cheek.
Tristan sat down at the poker table and tossed in a quarter. "Alright, deal me in." He said. He glanced back at Nevada and pointed to a group of girls over to the side.
